  1. Because the Red Sox are not going to win the whole thing with one really solid starting pitcher and Sale has the pedigree to be not just good but spectacular if they can get him right. He wasn't right in game one but he did show a flash of what he could do striking out Altuve ...that sequence was the best he has looked to me. I think Pivetta and Houck are being ultilized in a very good way pitching multiple innings in relief but both of them get exposed going even two times through a batting order especially against play off teams.
  2. I dunno about him but I think Plawecki can!
  3. I think your memory is a little faulty...Yaz hit a home run off of Guidry in that game early on...the only left handed hitter to do that all that year off of him but in the ninth inning off Gossage Yaz popped up.
  4. Well looking at the schedule or at least what I think it will look like 10 games against each division opponent twenty games against NY and TB split those games 10-10 I hope....pound on Toronto and Baltimore 15-5 and twenty games with the NL East Nats, Braves, Phillies, Mets and Marlins maybe they can go 11-9 I don't think the Marlins will be very good the Nats and Braves will be good the Phillies and Mets might be good or maybe not we will see. Far as replacing Sale, Price and Porcello they were not effective pitchers last year and were a big reason why the Sox stunk in 2019. This year we can compete if ERod continues to grow, Eovaldi actually pitches to his potential and Perez and McHugh chip in for a coupe of months. This is going to be a weird year 60 games starting in mid to late summer sounds like a great time for fresh hitters to bat against pitchers I expect a lot of hitting especially the first 20-30 games and this Red Sox team should hit...yeah we will miss Mookie but the Sox have a good offense.
  5. I don't think so it will just open up a new avenue to get the signs with batters wearing and earpiece to listen in on what the catcher and pitcher are saying. Far as investigating all of the teams they have the time right now since no one is playing games and I think almost every team was at least trying to get the signals.
  6. I think Cora and Beltran was thrown under the bus by the Astros management because they didn't want to admit that they had a whole wing of stat's geeks and people working on stealing signs. Codebreaker I think is what they called it and it was up and running before Cora and Beltran were even part of the Astros. I think the Red Sox may well have been peeking at the signs trying to get an edge and than if they got to second base they could try and signal the batter what was coming I also think every team was doing that. Now if it comes out that the Sox were doing something like the Astros were doing than they deserve to be punished. If they end up punishing the Sox for something everyone else was also doing I will be pretty upset with the whole situation.
  7. I hope we will have a season, SI says the Sox are a .500 team but I think they have the hitting to be a good offensive team. The pitching will be a problem but maybe we get lucky and find someone or 2,3 or 4 that will help out in that department.
  8. I dunno he has already had TJ and missed a couple of months with a shoulder problem last year. Maybe he comes back from all of that and is great but projecting him as a RP when the Sox really need a starting pitcher is not inspiring much confidence. Time will tell.
  9. I like this a lot better than the original deal and a whole lot better than watching him leave after this season for a draft pick or maybe not even that depending on what happens with the investigation. Mookie is a great player but I really don't like the odds of giving anyone a contract for 10 years or more there is just an awful lot of risk. I have seen to many really good players get injured and never perform 100% starting with Lonborg, Tony C., Nomar and Dustin just on the Red Sox.
  10. CC crying about the Yankees being cheated was over the top because I don't think anyone thinks the Yankees are clean in any of this. They had 4 players that had seasons last year that would make you think WTF Urshela who all of a sudden was a star, Torres who hit way more home runs than I thought he was capable of, Gardner who also hit a boatload of home runs and LeMahieu who had an off the charts season and never came close to that kind of power even though he came from Colorado a place where the ball does fly. Yankee fans all say move along nothing to see here...it was all because of the juiced ball....Yankees are clean I tell you...pure as the driven snow and we all say yeah the yellow snow.
  11. Maybe your right but I remember the ball really jumped off his bat and usually if someone can't hit the slider they don't make it to the big leagues. Chavis had the same kind of start but the ball didn't jump off of his bat like Middlebrooks. Maybe Elk was right and it was all Jenny Dell's fault she made me twitterpatted.
  12. Hi Kimmi it's been awhile. Middlebrooks I will never understand what happened to him that was just beyond odd and what ever he lost he never got it back.
  13. I would agree with that also the only player I can think of that just seemed to lose his passion for playing was Will Middlebrooks. I thought he was going to be a star and than he just fizzled out.
