    Not necessarily.

Seabiscuit was a hero during the great depression. But now we have a HR hitting horse named Judge.
  3. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Seabold has been hittable, but for his 1st start against a pretty good hitting team he hasn't been terrible. Shouldn't give up on him too soon.

Well, if good pitchers got beat a lot, they wouldn't be good pitchers. Fortunately, if one likes to see hitting, there ain't a hell of a lot of good starting pitchers in MLB.
  5. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Never heard of a race horse named Seabold, but I'm very familiar with Seabiscuit.
  6. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    It's all about the pitching.
  7. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
I'm guessing Story leads the SOX in hitting into fewest DP's.

I love Jurgenson, but I was going with Sonny Siebert. He pitched for the SOX from 69-72.

When a good pitcher has all his stuff working, he has the advantage. That's been true since the game was invented.

Just checked; Buchholz was drafted by the SOX in 2005, so it was only 17 years ago.

Damn, if Seabold had done well tonight, I had planned to refer to him as Sonny. Anyone as old as me would know of which Sonny I'm referring to.
  12. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
I believe that was 22 years ago.

The SOX have been fortunate with Winck. Asking for two effective starters from the farm is a bridge too far.
  14. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Seabold wasn't drafted by the SOX. The last successful SOX starter that was actually drafted by the SOX was Buchholz.
  15. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Gausman is too good a pitcher to lose 5 in a row. Hope I'm wrong.
  16. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Bichette really is as dumb as he looks.

Sports is a good distraction when reality is starting to crumble.

Not complaining, Mr Perfect. Just stating that leaving a lot of men on base is not a good habit to get into, especially when playing the good teams in MLB, even though there aren't that many. Btw, you do come across as a holier than thou; that must be a lot of work.

Watching the Boston/Cleveland series allowed me to see, imho, the two most productive LH hitters in MLB.
  20. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
16 LOB, imho, is never OK.
  21. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    2 of 4.
  22. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Just checked. The SOX had 16 LOB; it seemed like more. That won't play well in Toronto.
  23. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
AL Central should just play amongst themselves.
  24. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Wonder what the record is for LOB's?
  25. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    Jay Deelivers!
