You may be right, but I seriously doubt that they're better today. I will admit though that William Bendix was the worst chUMP I ever saw in the movie KILL THE UMPIRE.
I remember hearing Bobby Doerr once say that if a chUMP called a strike on Ted Williams, Ted would turn his neck and look at the chUMP and the chUMP would know he made the wrong call. In today's game, Ted would get whiplash.
One thing I did learn watching a few NL PO games; if I'm a pitcher, I'd rather pitch to those NL teams than pitch to either the SOX or the Astros. Just my opinion.
In the movie MAJOR LEAGUE, Bob Uecker said "slightly outside." In this game Uecker would say "slightly outside; hold it, the chUMP called it a strike."
