    I agree about Devers trying to carry the team. For some reason he has this thought in his head that he's the only HR hitter on his team. Oh, wait!

    Since July 1st only the SOX have a worse W/L record than the Yankems in the AL East. The SOX are worse by only one game. The O's have the best record since July 1st.

    Speaking of getting older, it appears the Yankems' Cole may be aging quicker than the Yankems originally thought.

    Cora: "OK, JD, you're in the line-up today." JD: " Thanks, Alex, but I'm really not helping the team." Cora: "You can say that again, but it wasn't my decision. Orders from the FO. It's not a good look to have our highest paid batter not playing." JD: "Btw, Alex, my birthday's tomorrow." Cora: "I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. I'm thinking of a present; ok, for your birthday tomorrow I'm gonna let you bat clean-up and play RF." JD: " Won't that reduce the team's chance of winning?" Cora: "Fugghettabout it. I've already done that today. Your birthday's much more important." JD: "I love you, Alex." Cora: "I know. All my players love me, except maybe for REF, but he'll come around."

    Maybe some other team will pick him up. The SOX can't be the only organization that 'dumpster dives.'

    Hey, Vegas, maybe we've shamed JD enough for him to homer today. Maybe not.

    I think Sale should be as classy as Ryan Dempster and retire.

    Maybe JD's come full circle. He began his career as a below average hitter and he's ending it the same way. Who knows? But I'm not going with an injury excuse.

    If the SOX manager?, based on recent trends, was putting a line-up together that gave the SOX the best chance to win, it would be Pham at DH and REF in RF. This smells of a manager getting his orders from the FO. It would also be nice if Bogey and Devers started hitting like the money they want.

    I predicted last night that JD would be the Designated Batter today, but I also predicted that REF would be in RF. I'm not really sure it's about winning anymore. Either that or Cora really isn't a genius.

    Arroyo Dugo(LF) Bogey Devers JD Hosmer Kike Duran(RF) Plawecki REF's .330 BA and .939 OPS not good enough to crack this line-up, plus he's better defensively than Duran, but other than that.

    I remember when Bill had his arm injured during a brawl with the Yankems back when both teams actually hated each other, not this phony promo crap today. My one word to describe Bill Lee would be 'unique.'

    M. Wacha vs K. Bradish The O's have good offensive stats against Wacha based on A/B's and hits. Hopefully, Wacha can repeat his fine performance from his last start. Go SOX!

    In his 10 years as a Red Sox Bill's W/L record was 94-68. His ERA over that period ws 3.64. He averaged 3 K's/game, 10 hits/game and 3 BB's/game. His WHIP over the 10 years was 1.380. From 1973-1975 Bill was 51-35, winning 17 games in each of those 3 years. Also during that same period, Bill averaged 280 innings pitched. In 1974 Mr Lee led all major league pitchers in hits allowed with 320. And in the 7th game of the '75 WS Bill really pissed off YAZ. I wonder if they've talked since? Similar to Jimmy Piersall, Bill's antics on and off the field sometimes overshadowed the fact that he was a pretty damned good ballplayer.

    Here's a serious question. Has a 1st place team ever fired their manager?

    And if Bogey is let go then Story is the SS. So that would affect the use of the budget. Signing a good 2nd baseman is usually cheaper than signing a good SS. As much as I'd love Trey Turner coming to Boston, he's probably too expensive to make that a reality.

    Hey, MOON, regarding my earlier post that the FO could have 59 million freed up going into the offseason. How would you budget out that money going into 2023?

    That's a very low bar, but I agree 100%. Unfortunately, that will be Cora's decision.

    More than likely JD will be back as the Designated Batter tomorrow or Sunday, so I'm sure Cora will insert Dugo, Kike, and REF in the OF, left to right and he will bench Phamtastic Pham. I'm actually only about 40% sure that will happen regarding the OF.

    Barnes has shown improvement. There's some positivity in a desert of positivity.

    More believable is that he's just in a prolonged slump that happens to most ballplayers. He'll break out of it, but I can't give you a specific date.

    SOX may have to trade Raffy to Houston this off season so he can be with VAZ. Maybe it's just a coincidence that Devers has sucked since VAZ was traded.
