It doesn't look too promising the BRUINS are going to sign Swayman. He wants 10mil/yr and the BRUINS FO doesn't seem to want to go over 8mil. Huge difference between the money in the 3 other major sports compared to the money in the NHL. 10 mil/yr in MLB gets a you a Kluber, but in the NHL 10mil is too high for, perhaps, the best goalie in the league. Of the 4 major sports, imho, goaltenders get the least respect of any position. They're usually the most underpaid, and yet they may play the most nerve racking and important position in the sport.

Francis is 28 years old. I just checked. The way the Toronto booth was describing him I thought he was much younger. So he came up to Toronto last season as a 27 year old reliever.

Similar to Houck in that both started their MLB career as relievers.

Since 8/26 the SOX starting pitching has the lowest ERA in MLB. The Blue Jays have the 2nd lowest. I was aware from watching the games the SOX starters were doing well, but I didn't realize they were doing that well. During that same period the SOX offense was ranked near the bottom. That did not surprise me.

His WHIP over his last 8 starts is 0.56

The less things change the more they stay the same. The 1st inning has not been kind to Duran's at-bats. Runner on 2nd with no outs not scoring.
  7. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
After winning their 79th game last night there shouldn't be any pressure on the SOX.
  8. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Francis has been one of the best, if not the best, starters the last 2 months.

    Addition by subtraction.

I'm not defending him; no reason to. I do enjoy the fact that Rafaela is living in your head rent free.
  11. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Might call this a 'walk on' win.

15 HR's, 73 RBI mainly batting 9th in the order. Yes I do, but i know responding to your question is a waste of time. Oh yeah, he's also an excellent CF, but I know that doesn't interest you.

MOON. it's a hopeless cause. I've given up.

This Guerrero has some good stuff. He's been impressive since his call up.

10 walks and counting. Ya don't see that every game. Kirk should put his target outside the strike zone causing his pitcher to throw strikes.
  16. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Capt. Kirk of the Jays has made some excellent plays behind home plate.

Story may not function smoothly on offense, but he's a well-oiled machine at SS.
  18. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    Should be one helluva parade.
  19. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    Probably? Ya think?
  20. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Another good start by a SOX pitcher. It hasn't been the starting pitching that's kept the SOX from the PO's.
  21. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Duran has a good chance of doing something only Ty Cobb had done. Not too shabby.

Fred would have also hated Paul Blair of the 60's and 70's Orioles.
  23. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
Fred has no concept about the importance of defense. But he will bitch about errors.
  24. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
As a rookie Rafaela is 2nd in the AL in hits and 1st in RBI. Why don't you cut him some slack.
  25. SPLENDIDSPLINTER
    Did Rafaela steal your girlfriend?
