A player with an OPS+ of 100 is considered average offensively. A player like Devers with an OPS+ of 155 means he's 55% better than the average offensive player.

That could have been a lot worse.

I'm getting the Toronto feed and they show each players OPS+ entering the game. Based on the surprisingly high OPS+ on certain players, I can only conclude that the average offensive player in MLB is pretty bad.

I still feel strongly that the SOX need a good defensive SS to help this fine pitching staff. Btw, with Duran, Rafaela, Abreu, and O'Neill the SOX have 4 outstanding defensive OF's. Hamilton is much better defensively at 2nd base. Rafaela needs to play CF. SOX FO go out a get a good defensive SS. That's an order.
