  1. Duran rarely hits in the 1st inning no matter where he bats in the lineup.
  2. I share your love.
  3. Hey, I have a fondness for volleyballs. We used them for playing dodgeball when I was in highschool. Our gym teacher was a cool dude.
  4. Breslow even called me asking if I had any 1st base experience. When I told him my age, he said nevermind, but then asked if I had any younger neighbors that had ever played 1st. I told him I'd check and get back to him. I'm pretty sure you'll also be getting a call soon, Moon.
  5. Now we know how many holes it takes to fill the Fenway Park.
  6. I didn't realize the Sox had a hole at SS. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. Recently heard that the Giants, who are 13-23 since early June, are looking for a hitter before the TDL. I found that fairly amusing.
  8. I'm a fan of Perry's Vanilla Fudge Sundae.
  9. Charlie Finley, after the Curt Flood decision, saw the future of long term contracts and sold the A's immediately. Finley was a lot smarter than the average baseball owner.
  10. That boat had sailed after the '75 season.
  11. Personally, I believe swimming is the best way to build up muscle strength.
  12. And only 4 flavors of ice cream.
  13. Well then, I guess I'm wrong.
  14. In the days of fewer injuries there were no weight rooms.
  15. For many of the everyday players, IMHO, too much time in the weight room is the cause of many injuries.
  16. Remember, the less one expects, the less disappointed one will be.
  17. Stay tuned. This and many other questions will be answered this coming Friday night.
  18. After the last 3 seasons there's no way they can be sellers. Of course, how the Sox FO defines buying probably won't match up with how many of us define buying.
  19. Those were the days of one year contracts. Players played through injuries to avoid a pay cut the following year.
  20. Apparently there were two sections of the CF wall. The wall where Willie was running toward when he made the catch was 450 feet. Just to the left is the deepest part of CF at 483 feet.
  21. I just checked. CF wall at the Polo Grounds was 483 feet from home plate. Vic's fly ball traveled 420 feet.
  22. It was in one of those world series games that Mays made that great catch of the ball hit by Vic Wertz at the Polo Grounds. In fact, that catch could have only been made at the Polo Grounds. I believe CF was 450 feet from home plate.
  23. I guess you could also add the pitch count as another reason.
  24. There will never again be a team with four 20 game winners for two main reasons; a five man staff and the fragility of today's starting pitchers.
