True, but it seems that since 1969 when the league lowered the mound, every modification to the game has been to benefit the offense. Disallowing the current version of the shift is just another f'ing rule to increase runs per game.
Personally, I'm against the league butting in on how a manager wants to set his defense. If said manager wants to put 7 guys in LF, he should be able to do so. If the batters can't or won't adjust to the shift, tough s***.
