    I agree. My point was that in the book the OVERLOOK was supposed to haunted. In the movie Jack Nicholson was.

    There were so many calls to cable services because customers thought their cable went out, that many phone lines blew up.

    King sells his books to Hollywood. What they do in translating his novels into movies he has no control over. When Kubrick was making King's novel The Shining into a film, King related to a reporter that Kubrick had called him in the middle of the night and asked King if King believed in ghosts. King replied "of course." Kubrick immediately told King that he didn't and hung up. At that point King new the film would be drastically different than his book.

    There's all kind of endings for books and movies. There's happy, there's sad, and there's violent. But there was one ending I remember to a TV series that wasn't any of those. This ending would come under the heading of gutless; it was the ending to The Sopranos. I'm not even sure that could be called an ending. Now that one really pissed me off.
