Blake is not Gary Sanchez over there for the yanks who hits moon shots and an elite Power bat ...Blake probably has the same D as Gary though ...The question is will Blake hit ? Yes will Blake hit for high average ohh yeah his bat speed is there ... Will Blake ever hit moon shots or even hit 30 out ? Umm not likely ...Will Blake hit more out than Vaz ? Yes Sandy ? Yes ...but only if he's the number 2 Catcher . Likelihood of Blake given this job ?I hope it's over 70 percent but it's probably closer to 30'.Why not let Blake catch Vel ,Johnson,Price,Porcello and steer clear of Sale ? Let Sandy be his caddy .The line this pitching staff is fragile ..You're right they are and they need as many runs as they can possibly get ...will Blake have passed balls ? Yes will Devers have passed balls ? Yes will just about everyone we have Nunez and the like have issues yes unless you're name is Mookie Or Jackie they will ...This is not saying we don't have a good team we do ...Give this kid his reps Now not later ...figure out by June if he's our future like Devers and Betts .

No one not me not you not anyone can say his Defense is a train wreck it's incomplete .The pop we need is any warm body that can out slug and get oB more than what we have had ...I'm done defending a ghost though ...until he proves me right ....I'm an idiot for my own projections ...I don't mind putting myself out there for this player or that but this iis pointless ...The player needs to get the shot first ...no more zips for Blake no more projections about a player we all know just needs ABs

Moon he's not a power bat ok ...But he's a talented hitter 280s maybe higher right ? I mean the kids a career 270 but that's wrapped up in some extremely handicapped comeback attempts is it not ....We need Blake to figure it out behind the plate Defensivly but he's not a train wreck back there come onnn.He can hit for high average to all fields he can play third ,short ,second 1st left and Right fields ....The kid was a shortstop ....the kid pitched in the upper 90s ....99 his sophomore year to be exact ...don't tell me he can't catch that's horse crap ...we need that bat behind the plate spelling Vaz ...I'm not ever saying Blake hits 22 HR he's never done it !!! I am saying he hits 290 and rakes with men on ....I am saying he needs to be given the opportunity right now ....it's time .I am extremely frustrated with his development as a catcher ....the kid could be an All star caliber catcher offensively why not go all in???? what are we really risking here ? Sandy is not pudge Moon he's Sandy Leon a very mediocre catcher bottom third ....Blake Swihart could be much much more .let Sandy be Sales caddy If that's what Sale wants ...and Wright ? The rest ahould go to Vaz and Blake ....you can't take away this kids bat speed ...it's there .I know you see it .my diatribe is over taken its course I've said what I see in the player ...ultimately sometimes it's fate ...I hope he takes this season and blows all the doors and roofs off everyone's low expectations ....but he won't shock me .Catcher is extremely important Defensive position when you have a Knucklebller and an ace that can throw a slider that slides 2 foot ...other than them he's golden .

Oh moon you get it.Blake is a far better player it's really nothing more ....Sandy has shown who he is ....Blake needs the reps and he would own that job.But hey if we want to keep trotting out the same players who in my opinion have been below average to poor offensively ....I don't get that .Xander deserves mention in disappointment and so does JBJ so does Hanley but they get there at bats ...Blake needs his and Sandy is in his way .

Fred Lynn amazing player .I hope Blake gets those reps right away ..,consistent MLB at bats and he takes off guarantee it ..Don't give up on him after a slump let him go wind up repeat the reps and he will absolutely shine ....God I hope Cora sees this and has the nuts to follow through ...Go alllll in with Blake sink or swim .

Spud he is a MLB caliber catcher ...I went abit far like I do .Hell Theo may pick up Sandy and he's forgotten more about baseball than I will ever know ...Sandy is a good catcher ...I want Blake in there it's that simple ...Ill drop the Sandy hate he certainly doesn't deserve it .Spud did you know Who could take the mound and look more than competent out of our catchers ? Salty is a legend to me ...Loved the player .Salty had some huge moments for us and I'd never disparage Salty .Blake needs reps like a lot and I'd say you change opinion .Salty is a champion ...Blake needs his opportunity like all in opportunity ....he would make us all smile .

You guys are right we need both D and offense ...but Sandy and his 240 and 5 HR in tandem with Vaz and his 260 and 7 has to be better ...we need some Pop and we have it with Blake ...play him .

And I'm truly not trying to be a prick...love this team and we are good just not good enough ...we cannot and I repeat can freaking not give away Aton of one run games anylonger ...we will lose early in the playoffs once again ....we have to get home field ....it's an absolute must for this team ....I would argue that we would have won a World Series in one of the last couple years if we had home field ...no slight to Houston or Chicago but we are better and we must capitalize when ever we can with what ever upgrade we can because we may win it all or get beat the hell down early and humiliatingly ....raise you're hand if you think Sale ,Price ,Porcello has any better chance on the road this year than last ? Our catching offense is terrible .I would rank it up there with our 1b offense and our DH offense from last year ....we upgraded at DH right ???? We went flat line at first base right ??? I just for once want Sandy out on his ass for a marginal upgrade not including Swihart who I love . For the love of God get an offensive catcher and first baseman ....I am lighting candles for Hanley but my goodness Mitch is one step ahead of Jason Veritek in how he looks swinging a bat ??? That crap has to change Mitchy two bags or not that cat looks like he swings thors freaking hammer sometimes and for Mitch he ain't Thor .

Ohh boy that is debatable my friend ...he's special he makes me sit up in my chair every at bat ....he to me is not a third baseman though and I'll admit that even though it killlllllllllls me to say it ....yea he's young but it's just not a smooth position for him ...MVP he can hit and right now his D can suck and I wouldn't give a rip ...it's passable though and that's great .Devers swing is so pure it's fluid and without much strain if anyyyy at all ...when he connects which he does often his ball just lifts off ...he alone for me gives me hope ...it's not Mookie and Mook is great it's the kid he's a star .David Ortiz is right about Devers and those of us who have followed his path know this is no fluke ....He can flat out Hit...Best thing about Devers ? I'm more than Ok with trading any player to improve our team ...I loved Nomar but I loved the parade a hell of a lot more .MVP this is about you and me and the rest of us fans getting parades ....whAt ever players accomplish that feet matters verrrry little to me .Now are there players you like more than me ? and vice Versa? MVP He has been banged up ...it's part of playing that position ...please don't sleep on that Bat though and that arm they are both legit ...Framing I can absolutely see a decline in this if you're arm or hand or wrist is sore ...you may get lazy...I don't know ...I know that swing ...I know that arm ...I know his red ass approach .Boston was a fit unless we give that 2 slot to Blake and I'd be ecstatic over the moon for this to happen ...Sandys time should be spent as a mentor and backup to Blake who is also a superior Athelete and also has a hit tool that could produce 20 plus HR and a better average than Sandy ...Ill take Blake over Sandy every time .

Lucroy is a far superior player than both those players ...tell you what we can revisit this in a few short months and compare players ...I'm betting on his career norm ...you can have those two players career norms ...we will see .

Sandy is a number 2 catcher on a 500 team he's ok ....but to think Sandy Leon or Christian are on the same Level as Lucroy is nutso and shows me just how retarded some stats are ....go look at Lucroy a year removed from last ....he's a stud ....his swing is God given for Fenway park ...his arm is a freaking bazoooooka the man is a great catcher ...We would have loved this player in Boston and I'm pissed he was had for 6 mill....it's a terrible decision not to upgrade the position .

2016 Lucroy hit 24 bombs with high ave ....he's hit 299and 0ver 300 and is a career 282 hitter he's proven it and has pop ...last year he played in what 44 games ???? Still almost matched ole Sandy....to say Christian or Sandy are even close to his caliber hitter ? That's a joke ....now if we want to talk arms ???? Christian has the cannon and Sandy is accurate a tick behind but still good Lucroy has a good arm but not Christian Level ....calling games and framing pitches and hitting for average and Power ????? Sorry Lucroy is better ....If we landed Lucroy I'd catch him and Vaz evenly throw Blake in for 20 and trade Sandy .

Thankyou ...good blog .I don't agree with the order and the Yankees are a cc and Tanaka hangnail away from tanking .The Redsox even with our Mash unit should be a top 5 rotation ....Cleveland ,Dodgers ,Houston,Boston ,Wash is my top 5 ....Boston could be as High as 2 and low as 5 but no lower .

Bellhorn the guy sucks .....Christian is a far superior Athelete and Catcher and although Lucroy isn't Christian he's a better player than Sandy and that's not a secret .Sandy will hit his 235 hit 5 to 7 HR and call 1 great game 3 aweful games ...Not a fan and never will be .Lucroy is a career 280s hitter he has shown power in the past ...He would have been one hell of an upgrade over Sandy .I think Blake given a full year though as 2 gives this team 17 to 20 HR and a 265 ave with far superior power numbers ....If we didn't sniff Lucroy I'm praying they demote Sandy ...today his 2 HR better not convince our Rookie manager that this is some power hitter ...Happ sucks .
