  1. Me too. BP games just don't look right. And they extend the time of the games. Maybe ortho surgeons will find a way of fixing arms to match those they had back in the good ole days of baseball, which seem to have gone extinct. Of Chapman and Betances, I would prefer the latter. I like him much more and he will be considerably less expensive, given all his past woes. I'm thinking he finally has an injury and angst free year--all to our benefit.
  2. Finally, we have the pitching matchup for tomorrow night: Greinke vs Tanaka. A little surprised that it's not Paxton, but when T. is on, and he has been of late, he's obviously a shutdown ace. Nevertheless, despite Houston's having no choice as to their starter, they have G's 2.95 ERA vs T's around 4.45 ERA.
  3. How about this: the name of this thread is simply "Go Rays." What if they go go go all the way to the end. What if the name of this thread holds up till the bitter end. And the Rays taste the Glory. Well, what it means is that none of us will have to request a title change to the thread. Exciting.
  4. I'm thinking that Jansen was either not that available because of either overwork or poor performances in the latter part of the season. Otherwise, Roberts would have gone to him when he had the lead. Interesting that the Yanks is the only top seed or favorite to win so far. If the Rays win tonite then the Yanks will be the only higher seed to make it through. They may win the World Series via Minny, Tampa, and Wash. Nothing to write home about.
  5. Disappointing, but it's still fairly early. (Both these starters have almost exact season stats, but Buehler is potent in the post season)
  6. Washington vs Dodgers is huge. If Wash wins, I'm almost certain it's a first. And I can recall that old Washington Senator team in the AL Cellar-dwellers for decades. I put more faith in a Wash upset than I do in a Ray upset.. We'll soon see.
  7. Exactly. Which is why it will be painful to watch Thurs night's game for me. I want the Rays, but I want Houston I guess... even more. Dilemma. Life is hard.
  8. Dig these Rays. Up 4-0 in the 6th and pitching relievers vs Verlander. I'm rooting for them, but the next game is going to be tough because Yanks are the bottom line, and they need to play Houston. (Also, Astros have home field advantage vs Yanks) Otherwise, I'm with the Rays in all Ways, but not always.
  9. I've heard on yankee broadcasts that LeMahieu situational and strategic (bat handling etc) has had a big influence on many other Yankee hitters, including the mid-level guys they brought in to win the pennant.
  10. That's more than I expected, and way way more than Notin did. Interesting also, that none of them happened in the late months when less was at stake, and makes sense that 3 were with E-Rod.
  11. There's been two in the playoffs so far that I know of. But the NL would have way more than the AL, and you're right, these games are more scarce.
  12. I wonder how many games this year followed the classic 7-1-1 pitching game...... 7 innings for starter, setup man comes in, closer finishes. I wouldn't be surprised if the number was 2-4 games.
  13. And they're very good at doing that.
  14. Twins. Average Minus pitching doesn't cut it in the playoffs, esp when you're playing in a small park against a murderers row lineup. I expect a sweep.
  15. The Yanks have some potent lineup with everybody back. It's not going to help the Twins lack of confidence with this team.
  16. What a huge baseball day. A quadruple header.... each of much interest. Rays still tied at 0-0 in bottom of 5th. Two runs may do it.
  17. Tonight. I wish I trusted Minny pitching more, esp against the Yanks. In the post-season, good pitching can often be critical... Which is why Houston and LA are heavy favorites. And Minny can't match NY's relief staff, nor can they match home games.
  18. Well, you gotta point, there.
  19. Do you mean that bad blood between us and them a few years back? I'm over that because I'm impressed with what they can accomplish with so little and on so little. And to boot, no fans to cheer them to the point of re-scheduling home games way up north in Montreal, Canada
  20. I'm sure that you're the greatest Rays fans on this board... but only for a week, right.
  21. They have a clean slate at least till Friday night. That little series should be very closely contested, but Yanks have home field advantage. So, you gotta pick em. Till they arrive in Houston.
  22. Amazing stats. These two teams deserve lots of praise.
  23. I think we've lucked out with Porcello's physical dependability to this point. I say don't press your luck further... because he's probably due for an injury or some form of break-down. Will miss him, tho, because he has been the sole workhorse on the team. What will we be without that??
  24. These play-in games are a little sad. Last night's game obviously featured two excellent teams, and one had to exit... boo. And Milwaukee did in a very unlucky way which made the one-game series seem even dumber. Tonight's game also pits two surprising teams against each other. Oakland has Mennaia (sp.) going the guy who no-hit us last season. I like both teams for their spunk and low-budget successes, but one will have to go down tonight. And the winner will have to play Houston... tough.
  25. It seems that the Sox would get a 1st Round (supplement) pick for JD. After all, he will almost certainly be signing for more than 50 million.
