  1. The Yankees didn't choke, they got smoked by a better team.
  2. For someone who's known as king of a gamer (not to mention a fringe MLB player who should do everything in his power to emphasize his value), Holt goes out with some pretty soft injuries. Was it last year he missed half the season with dizzy spells? Now he's missing time because his son poked him in the eye??
  3. Way too much being made of the schedule. Enough excuses. This team is playing like absolute dog$hit. It wouldn't matter where/who they were playing. Good teams win. This team just isn't good right now.
  4. Well said. Has Cora gone on record as to why he babied his starters so much in Spring Training? Was it to make them last through the season? Did he actually say that? Looks like an awful idea right now. Just wondering if this really was his rationalization for it or if everyone is just speculating.
  5. Howdy, folks. Long-time observer/rare poster here, may try to be a little more active about posting this season. Psyched for baseball although the closer situation worries me. I'm usually a cheapskate -- even on the ownership's behalf -- but not sure why they wouldn't give Kimbrel a one year deal and go all out in a run to repeat, since this is likely the last time we'll have this collection of players together. Still, we're pretty loaded and should be an entertaining, competitive season.
  6. So you liked a move the Yankees made? Color me shocked!
  7. Hopefully tonight is a blowout (in our favor) and someone can drill him. We owe him TWICE now. What an absolute turd.
  8. Pitching match-up certainly doesn't favor us, but... let's play some goddamn baseball!
  9. Let's do this!! Rare poster and generally very negative... thought we could get a win at the Stadium, though, and I felt even more confident in beating Sabathia. So think things are looking pretty damn good. Sabathia is one of the few Yankees I like... he's a gamer and a good teammate, sort of old school or whatever. That said, he is basically a junkballer at this point in his career, and the Sox need to figure this fat f*** out. Let's hope the last game against him meant that they have.
  10. I would be surprised if the bullpen DOESN'T blow this.
  11. Why lift Eovaldi? Wasn't he at like eighty pitches??
  12. Yeah, maybe my post was sort of cynical. Hopefully he doesn't care at all about that. Well along with the money and the awards, I'll also say that maybe the competitor in him maybe would not accept missing a month of the season if he feels totally healthy and could pitch, you know?
  13. I certainly hope you're right, but at this point they are jeopardizing his Cy Young award. I think he probably cares about that, especially because he's never won one and is a borderline hall of famer and a Cy Young award might push him through to Cooperstown, also good marketing/ratings/etc. for the franchise. Sale may even get a monetary bonus if he wins one.
  14. I hope it isn't too horrible to say that I wish the best for Jerry's recovery and am also excited about the possibility of seeing more Eck in the booth.
  15. Would Kimbrel not be available just from throwing a lot of pitches last night? I think he hadn't pitched in three or four days before that... I'd think he'd be available tonight. Hembree's quality/ability screams blowout reliever.
  16. Barnes or Kelly.
  17. He's hitting .214 with little power, is a career .235 hitter with little power, and yet still we hear people straining to convince us he's anything but an "awful" hitter. For the record, I'm fine with the low salary and slightly better fielding -- our lineup can handle it -- but it's weird how some people can't seem to admit he's just not a good hitter.
  18. Any update on the weather?
  19. He is a good fielder, like pretty much all center fielders, and an awful hitter. I will give you that we don't really have any better options.
  20. So now we found two things the immortal Jackie Bradley can do: get slightly better jumps on fly balls and make crafty slides.
  21. Bradley f***ing blows. Strikes out on a 90 mph meatball right down the middle. And I wasn't the least bit surprised.
  22. Don't really like any of the pitching matchups for us. Unless Happ is officially missing this weekend's start...? Last I heard he was scheduled to start, no? Even so, seems like Sabathia and Tanaka both dominate us. Porcello can hang but Price against the Yankees... well, you know. Johnson really needs to set the tone. He's been a nice surprise but I worry he isn't up for a big game against a lineup I'm pretty sure destroys lefties (though no Judge/Sanchez helps). Still don't get why if Sale is being DL'ed with a phantom injury, as it sounds, they couldn't have waited until after the Yanks series. Makes no sense to me.
  23. It all sounds very noble, but all I'm saying is I doubt if you're up 10-2 tonight you'll be cursing the baseball gods for not having Sale pitch tonight in place of Brian Johnston. People only remember the winners, not the injuries.
  24. Why do people feel compelled to say this ********? I'm sure you'd be sobbing if you guys kick beat us in both of Sale's starts and win the Pennant. Okay.
  25. But he gets a good jump on fly balls... AMAZING!!
