  1. Bradley continues to impress.
  2. Then put him on the DL and get him out of here.
  3. Listening to Smoltz this long has been torture. I would rather have someone force bamboo sticks under my fingernails.
  4. I thought so too. Drama queen cost the Red Sox a run.
  5. Good points. Vazquez at 1b and Leon at C doesn't make sense.
  6. The Dodgers are going to be worn out too. The Red Sox need to get Lin here, put someone on the DL. Bagaerts may need a day or two on the bench.
  7. Kinsler has looked totally overmatched in the playoffs.
  8. I'll say two. I wonder who starts for the Red Sox in game 4. Would they really go with Sale on short rest?
  9. Brutal game for Cora. He has made so many terrible decisions, I don't know where to start. Bunting with Vazquez with Leon on deck was just one of many bad decisions. Pitching to Puig with a weak hitting catcher on deck made no sense. True, if Kinsler made that throw, the game is over, but Puig ripped that ball--Kinsler made a nice play in fielding the ball. Also, Nunez is such a drama queen. If he didn't fall into the stands, the guy doesn't take second base. He could have stopped himself but wanted a Derek Jeter moment (that is how it looked to me).
  10. I don't agree with the decision to start Porcello over Eavoldi in game 3. This means that Porcello is set up to pitch game 7. I would rather have Eavoldi as the starting pitcher in game 7. Since I don't see a major benefit with Porcello as the game 7 starter, I would start E-Rod in game 4, move Eavoldi to game 5 (extra rest), move Sale to game 6 (extra rest) and Price to game 7 (extra rest).
  11. I would give Martinez one day off to rest the ankle. If necessary, I would be willing to use him as a pinch hitter in a key spot. My lineup for Friday against the righty: Betts: RF Holt: 2b Benintendi LF Bogaerts SS Devers 3b Moreland 1b Bradley: CF Vazquez: C Porcello: P
  12. I doubt Brasier is available tonight. I'm not sure about Barnes, but I would prefer saving Barnes for games 6 & 7. The Red Sox will likely go with their B bullpen today, relying on guys like Workman and Hembree. Who knows, maybe Price will come up big and guys like Workman and Hembree will also get it done. And perhaps Verlander will be off his game. It could happen, but the Astros are the clear favorites going into tonight based on the SP matchup. I'm giving Pearce a day off. He is 35 years old, not accustomed to regular playing time, and it doesn't look like Moreland is going to start again in this series. Betts RF Benintendi LF Martinez DH Bogaerts SS Devers 3b Holt 2b Swihart 1b Vazquez C Bradly Jr. CF
  13. I would go (for games 6 and 7) 9th Brasier 8th Porcello 7th Barnes 6th some combination of Kelly, E-Rod, etc. 8 run lead Kimbrel
  14. Some good slow motion replays: I think the fans reached over. The key moment is when the ball makes contact with the glove. It is interesting to see just how far Betts' body is from the wall. His left arm extends beyond his body, but only so far beyond it.
  15. because if the ball is in the stands, the fans can interfere. It is a jurisdiction thing. The stands belong to the fans, the field of play belongs to the players. If the fans reached over into the field of play, the umpire made the right call. If Betts reached over into the stands, the umpire made the wrong call.
  16. If Mookie's glove is in the stands, the fans have a right to interfere and catch the ball. Understood. I just don't know if Mookie crossed that line or if the fans crossed the line by interfering with a ball that was not yet in the stands. It is impossible to tell: If I had to take a position beyond "inconclusive" I would say that the fans reached over (but not by much). I wonder if any of those fans were forced to leave the park?
  17. I think what the Red Sox have to do is pretty simple. For games 6 & 7 (if the series goes that far) Kimbrel has lost the closer's role. Move Barnes or Brasier to the closer role and Porcello replaces Barnes or Brasier as a set up guy. Kimbrel is so terrible--it is quite astonishing he hasn't cost the Red Sox a game yet. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't happen. I don't know if the Red Sox can even make him a qualifying offer anymore. No one is going to give him a Chapman contract. He has struggled so much, big offers might not be there. Maybe Kimbrel will anticipate that and take the 17-18 million qualifying offer.
  18. I think Ron Darling just said that was a great play by Correa. Yeah, a great play. He had an easy double play and missed the bag.
  19. Bogaerts is great -- laid off that pitch.
  20. I guess Price pitches tomorrow. Price sucks on full rest, maybe he will be better with short rest. With the tough Verlander on the mound, I kind of like matching him up against the useless Price. But to make it work the Red Sox have to win tonight.
  21. Brasier is a cool customer. He comes in and immediately restores order. I wonder if he could be the Red Sox closer next year? I'm pretty convinced the Red Sox aren't going to pay Kimbrel.
  22. Interesting. So no E-Rod tomorrow I guess. I would have kept Kelly in for another inning.
  23. Hinch pushed James a little too far. Bad job by Hinch. Who knows how effective James will be from this point forward. Bradley Jr. is da man!
  24. Wow, it sounds like they may keep James in for another inning. I figured he was done.
  25. Maybe they can get 2 innings out of Kelly.
