  1. So far Chavis has 32 at bats (Lowell and Portland), with 14 K's, this tells you how far out of whack he is. 80 games this year really is going to set him back. He got 7 weeks to get his stroke back. Main thing cut down on the K's.
  2. Thanks CPL, and Spud, and Max, loved Pedro, but Koufax will always be "Left Arm of God" to me.
  3. Koufax in his last year, last game beat the Twins, that won the WS only on Fastballs, couldn't throw the curve anymore, his elbow was shot. You go up to the plate every batter without guessing what pitch is coming and lose. Amazing. That was a good fastball hitting Twin Team too.
  4. Always liked this article. read:https://www.wired.com/2011/03/why-sandy-koufax-and-the-curveball-rule/
  5. Saw Koufax pitch at the Polo Grounds with my father against the lowly Mets. 1-hitter. My Pop paid $20 for tickets back then, that how close we were. You can hear his fastball. He would probably K 400 in a year with todays free swingers.
  6. Sometimes losses are good. It humbles you. You realize, how easy it is to lose if you lose your focus as a Team. If you get stronger mentally as a Team, it will be worth it in the long run. Nothing is easy. Cant lose that mindset.
  7. Another thing to think about Cabrera, he has a .296 BA in Fenway. .292 against Lefties in his Career.
  8. Borucki has handled himself good so far. Pitched OK against the Astros and Yanks. Not too bad Minor League stats too.
  9. Blake probably tonight behind the plate, afternoon game tomorrow, for Sandy. I would think.
  10. Agree, 2 Closers. 1 Kimbrel, the other? Close the 8th and 9th inning, in close games. We will be dangerous, including the most important the Play-offs. I would take the chance on Britton too.
  11. Yeah agree, that was good one too.
  12. Forgot about Bumgarner. What he did a couple of years ago, was the best for One Play-off run.
  13. Just want to clarify, I don't think you guys will go for a "Dynamic" Trade. Just a thought what direction if that's was the case. Still think Happ, and a Reliever too. Less will get you more, for your purposes.
  14. I don't see Machado for you guys. That Cashman would give away, all these good young kids, Doubt it for a Rental. Dynamic Trade, with kids mentioned for Machado, I would say DeGrom.
  15. So it made the Season Starts more important. You had to win it all.
  16. How would WAR factor in if Betts had a great at Bat like that and just walked? After all it wouldn't be a Official at Bat. And if he just walked would have been big too. Not a WAR person, too many little things in the Course of the game, that would seem negative, but can win the game. I don't think gets factored in. Every game so different.
  17. Next start for Houck he faces another good team, Blues Creek, then 1 start later he faces Winston-Salem again.
  18. Not a good night for Houck, was hoping for a good game against a tough Opponent. As Fans its important we notice the competition these kids face in the Minors, otherwise you might get padded and false stats. Not worried about all stats with these kids. Looking at progress, best way to evaluate that is against the better teams. For Pitchers, I look at innings pitch, to hits allowed, BB's and HRS allowed, then ERA. W-L means nothing, in the Minors. Many good pitchers play on bad teams.
  19. For me Bob Gibson. He beat the Yanks Powerhouse as a Rookie, dominated the Sox, and had a hell of a Series against Detroit. Koufax up there too.
  20. At work with Mookie at bat. That was one of the great at bats you will ever see.
  21. Lin has done well in Pawtucket really improved his bat, then struggles up here. Hope this time it changes.
  22. I say why not promote Ockimey, get him up to tougher competition. Nothing to lose. Portland is a real bad team. Saw them last weekend, and hardly any Offense. Ockimey about only hope.
  23. Severino vs. Kiuber ought to be a dandy.
  24. Hope Price joins the party, tired of bashing him. Hope he kicks butt.
  25. Be like a BP session, no problem.
