  1. Seems like Cora is not reading this article. To me. Some of it yes, some of it I think he has his own way, to Optimize a Line-up.
  2. This story was Posted in 2009, many things changed since then. All they did was update it. A Gazillion more stats, to look at since then. Of course the simple fact, have your Line-up (However the Manager Feels), to score more RUNS, then your Opponent. The Final score matters in baseball. Don't overthink it. To me it's a Managers call. If any formula was a sure thing, everybody would be using it.
  3. Thanks for the thread, and some good comments. Like Sox Fans that show compassion. Always root for Underdogs like this.
  4. Dalbec is not a good Fielder. 17 errors in 96 games. .928 Fielding % in his career. Dalbec probably go to 1st over Devers. First time in Lowell he had 7 errors in 22 games. Devers was a better fielding 3rd baseman over Dalbec, in the Minors.
  5. Makes me wonder why Yaz wasn't a Centerfielder in Fenway.
  6. Sorry don't compare Catchers and CF's positions. A Catcher is involved every play, one way or the other. Unless 27 Outs are hit to CF, then OK then. You need some Offense, in the CF position. Mentally between the 2 Positions, Catcher has to be focused always. It's draining, to play like this. Which probably effects their Offense.
  7. 2 Outs its official game. Nope not yet.
  8. DeGrom throws the ball in a Average of 13 seconds.
  9. Just be happy that the Mets and Yanks hate each other. Can you imagine DeGrom on the Yanks. DeGrom is 30 years old. Last year DeGrom gave up 28 HRS, 201 innings, this year 8 so far, in 152+innings.
  10. JBJ had a good eye, even in the Minors, walks are just as good. Your right it would be fantasy. But what I'm saying a .250 BA combined with walks, is fine. As I see it. number 8 batter, is last. The number 9 guy in front of Mookie, should be thinking like a leadoff batter. Don't look at it like formal 1-9 line-up. The #9 hitter is huge with a stud right behind him. That's why OBP, is bigger contributor than anything else to me for JBJ.
  11. Trying different style with Kimbrel. https://nesn.com/2018/08/craig-kimbrel-can-make-this-adjustment-to-stop-skid-red-sox-pitching-coach-says/
  12. I think Swihart comes off the DL on Wed.
  13. So your debating Springer couldn't bat 2nd or 3rd even clean-up? More I think about it, you could be right.
  14. If JBJ could just do a simple thing, hit .250, with 2 walks in every 10 at bats, were cranking. 12 at bats, officially 10 at bats, with 4 hits, and 2 walks, that would be fantastic. On base 6 out of 12 times, with Mookie behind him, and strong Defense, plus a good runner and I'm good, real good. Of course it doesn't work out that way. Sure wish he keeps that mindset. OPS after that is gravy.
  15. He's improving, that's all that matters. JBJ.
  16. You want extra at bats, especially if you get into a game where he might miss the extra at bat, and could be a difference in a tie, and a win. Astros did it with Springer too. He cranked 34 HRS in lead-off spot. I think Cora using same formula.
  17. JBJ's OPS means very little to me, what does affect the team more is his OB%. You have a kid behind him where his OPS is 1.106. Base hits and walks, and Clutch hits, and I'm good. Getting on base, and getting the Best Hitters up in the Line-up, while he's on base helps everyone. He's a good base runner too. Almost like the 9th hitter on this team, should have a Lead-off mentality. Get on base, anyway you can.
  18. Sox have 2 days off this week, its after that we could use deeper games from some Starters. 10 straight games, Guardians, and Rays, a little tougher part of schedule.
  19. Swihart 0-3 in Lowell on Rehab today. He was catching.
  20. This team is relentless.
  21. Last thing today you want is extra innings.
  22. Listen, what this team has most folks don't see it. They are mentally tough, nothing bothers them. Each aspect of the game they pick each other up. They play as team. It starts above the shoulders. Very good team. Most people see stats, I see team. 2013 team had it too. Their minds was all about winning.
  23. Want perfection and improve? OK that's cool.
  24. Crack me up on this place you want perfection, not going to happen. Ever. Win and move on. You lose you get stronger, and build on it.
  25. Don't worry about 1 run if you win by 2.
