  1. That's two 1-run wins in a row. Things are evening out!
  2. Be thankful that Yankee-loving bitch in the booth isnt an umpire. She thinks Sanchez got a double on that ball.
  3. Man, you could fry bacon on Hanley right now!!!
  4. That's gotta be one of the longest umpire meetings and one of the shortest New York reviews ever.
  5. Maybe it's just me and I'm oversensitive to this, but I hate these Sox/Yankees ESPN games. It seems like the ESPN guys spend all their time gushing over the Yankees. They even went to Farrell and made him gush over Sanchez. Give it a break.
  6. I might be trying to just work CC's pitch count up now, so we can get to their bullpen.
  7. This is the second time in three innings that the Sox have left runners on 1st & 3rd. Gotta do better than that.
  8. LOL Mal. Please remember that you're probably the only one posting here who actually saw Berger play!
  9. Our defense has saved two runs this inning. Hill made a good play to keep a runner of first who would have scored on Sanchez' HR and Bradley's running that ball down in CF kept a run from scoring.
  10. I like yours better anyway.
  11. Ok. I must have picked those numbers up someplace else. My bad.
  12. I know it's good for us, but what a horrible break for the team and Tito. This team hasn't won anything in years and now just when they're poised to do something good, this happens.
  13. While I haven't visited the site myself, I'm hearing that there are posters in the Yankees' forums who are screaming for Girardi's head on a platter.
  14. AG's Boston #'s (.300/.812) are nothing to sneeze at, although they'd be quite pedestrian for this year's Sox team. But I'd sign EE for the $6.3M AG was getting while he was here in a heartbeat, for as many years as he wants (within reason). However, I wouldn't do it for the $22M the Dodgers are paying AGon.
  15. Gotta say... The Yankees came into Fenway needing to win at least 3 of 4 just to remain relevant. A sweep would just about end their fading hopes. After all the years of frustration and watching them rise from the dead like vampires, how good would it be to poise the wooden stake over the heart, even if some other team gets to deliver the final blow?
  16. Only time will tell on the EE situation. IMO he's worth more to the Sox than to any other team because of his swing/spray chart. If he uses what he expects from the Sox as his benchmark for what he'll take I think he's going to be disappointed. OTOH, if he signs with the Sox for what some other team would pay him he could be a bargain for the Sox. But I don't want him at 5-6 years and $20+/year. I'd rather use the money to try to sign/extend some of our youth for the future.
  17. Thanks, Moon. Just to keep things in perspective, we finished last in both of the previous two years. I'm not saying that I'm now satisfied with what we've got but let's recognize that this is a pretty good turn-around and we should enjoy it.
  18. I don't think there's any doubt in anyone's mind that losing Papi is going to negatively affect our offense, and I don't think there's any way we're going to "replace" him. EE might do the job, but at what price? Let's remember that there are other ways to win besides bashing the ball. I like your pitching staff going forward and I believe it'll be overall better than this year's. I'm not expecting 20 from Porcillo again but I wouldn't be surprised to see Price pick up whatever wins Porcillo doesn't get. Don't forget, Price has 8 losses this year and I'm expecting better from him in 2017. I like your team as constructed, but I notice that HanRam is in the middle of it. Does this mean that you've softened on trading him? I think my position on 'solid up the middle' has been pretty well documented here and I see the 2017 team as being solid up the middle defensively, and our entire OF (all four of them) may be the best 4-man outfield in baseball, defensively and cumulatively, offensively too. A bit short on power but they'll pick that up in OPS. My only concerns about 2017 at this moment are 3B and the bullpen. 3B is what it is and it probably won't sort itself out until Spring Training - when anyone we might want to pick up for that position has already been signed by someone else. But, as I said, it is what it is, and worse things have happened than being "stuck" with Shaw or Moncada at 3B. And bullpen arms are a crap shoot and always have been. They need to make intelligent signings and hope for the best there.
  19. I agree. It is too much.... unless that $22M guy is the difference between finishing in or out of the playoffs. [i know, no guarantees!] I also thought $13M was too much for a #5 starter in 2013 but IMO we wouldn't have gotten there without him. All salaries are a crap shoot. In my perfect world the player's salaries would be decided after the season was over and would be dependent on their production during the previous year, but that's just MY perfect world and it's not going to happen.
  20. That's easy to say after the fact. My post was put up before Kimbrel came into the game. Kimbrel has struggled with control in his past several outings and Koji is looking like he thinks it's 2013 again. Were Farrell I'd still be considering swapping Kimbrel and Koji's roles, but Kimbrel bought a couple of more outings with last night's performance. If what Farrell is doing is working I'm all for it, but if it starts to falter I don't want to watch this season circle the drain because of some preordained rule that Kimbrel and only Kimbrel can pitch the 9th.
  21. What an odd game that was to be watching. Clay was in and out of trouble all game (did he have even ONE clean inning?) and managed to do his Houdini routine nearly every time. One timely hit by the Yankees and things would have imploded on him, but instead one of the best hitters in baseball insisted on hitting into two DP's. I didn't see this as being much different between this outings and some of he previous outings. This biggest difference I saw between this game and some of the previous ones is that he didn't make his own trouble by walking people. He got a couple of good breaks - as opposed to the bad breaks he's gotten on some balls recently - and rode it to a respectable outing. To get back to the topic of the thread, whether or not he's worth the $13M he's getting this year, it all comes back to the unanswerable question of whether we would have gotten a better pitcher than 7-10, 5.20 ERA for that money. Clay certainly was no bargain, but OTOH he's had some good outings that have led to some wins and in a close pennant race every win is very important.
  22. The bad news for the Yankees. 1) They came into this series needing to win at least 3 out of 4. That ain't gonna happen. 2) They're now 6 games back in the standings. 3) They're facing David Price today. There is no good news.
  23. Nice job, Kimbrel. I take it all back.
  24. For another team.
  25. At the risk of sounding like the stereotypical Red Sox fan, God, I hope we don't lose this game like the Yankees lost the one last night.
