  1. Fixed that for you... just because someone pointed that same thing out to me on the morning of a previous day game. There are few things more frustrating to me than to be looking for a game at 7:00 only to find out it was played in the afternoon!!
  2. I believe that most posters are sincere in their beliefs. I appreciate that and respect it. And I expect the same thing in return.
  3. "Perfect is the enemy of Very Good".
  4. I agree. That made NO sense. The Sox should score several runs against Cotton so Farrell should have been willing to give up that one run to get the out.
  5. The good news is that we don't have to face the Guardians right now. If they change, and I think they will because "statistics" tell me that no team wins all of their games, there's only one way for them to go and it's down. Let's wait until October before we give up before the first pitch is thrown. Things can change a lot by then.
  6. I agree, and I thought Thunder's response was rather appropriate!
  7. No to the first sentence, yes to the second.
  8. When one looks at the won/lost records of the wild card teams vs. the records of the teams that almost qualified for the WC one would think that being a WC team can be quite random. But clutch does exist.
  9. I'd add JBJ to that list of sure players for next year too. Not because I like him, but because DD likes him. According to the rumors DD has had numerous chances to trade JBJ but has held onto him, and in fact tried to acquire him when DD was in Detroit. So I think JBJ will be around in 2018.
  10. I don't believe that hitting is contagious game to game, but I do believe that it can be contagious AB to AB. The thing I've always wondered about is whether that's because of the adrenaline of the hitters or if it's because the pitcher loses his focus and gives up better pitches to hit. Or a combination of the two.
  11. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!
  12. That may or may not be true, but there are some who believe that when something can be quantified statistically that statistical quantification should be the final word. And I disagree.
  13. I'm hoping it moves North but stays quite a way off shore. When that happens we get some swells and waves hitting the shore up here in Maine that are spectacular, but with no danger to the people. At least no danger to the people who are smart enough to stay out of the water!!
  14. Hahaha Add to that a 1-3 in the bottom of the 8th.
  15. This is a strange team though. They've made some pretty bad pitching staffs look like Smoltz, Maddocks, & Glavine.
  16. Ya. I put up a post about that very thing the next day, that if the umpires are going to demand that they see contact with the plate they're going to have to call every sliding play at the plate as an out because the video is always looking down on the plate and the contact can't be verified.
  17. JBJ strikes again!!
  18. I think he was safe too, and I'm pro-technology (to a point). That's why it irks me so when the umps blow a call that to me was fairly obvious. I still believe that the replay system would be improved if the umpires were to be miked like in football so they could explain why they made the call they did. One of the most frustrating things about that call was that we as fans were left wondering if they saw Vaz as being out, or did they feel they didn't have the evidence to overturn the original call.
  19. Maybe those gut feelings are right and not everything in baseball can be quantified statistically.
  20. And who spells "Chris" with a "Kh"? I know ... Mr & Mrs Davis, apparently.
  21. LOL OB & Eck are still grousing bout the play on Vaz last weekend. :-) Give it up, guys.
  22. I agree with you, that on the whole this team has shown very little excitement lately. However, I now have to question what good that "excitement" would do since we've been schooled to believe that hitting is not contagious.
  23. I didn't think that was confusion. I thought Mookie just called them off because he could catch it coming in - an easier play.
  24. Now c'mon.. I know you're down on Vazquez, but do you really think he called for a first pitch fastball in the middle of the plate???
  25. There's that double play that seems to run the Sox out of too many innings. :-(
