  1. I know.. and I agree, but that seems to be becoming "the new normal" in this country now. Business and government leaders tell lies on a wholesale basis and the people don't care. I feel like I know why it happened and I know why DD said what he did. I just hope DD and Alex talked about what the story was going to be before DD threw Alex under the bus.
  2. That's exactly what I'm thinking. I don't see a scenario where the Sox didn't know exactly what they were doing and the ramifications of it before they DFA's Hanely.
  3. That's probably the only thing Dalas has said that I agree with.
  4. That's my take on it too. DD lost some credibility when he said that it's not about the money. OF COURSE it's about the money! Probably not about this year's money, but next year's money for sure. If this whole thing came down like DD says it did with Coral initiating the DFA - something I'm not at all sure of - then you can bet that Cora didn't have to twist DD's arm very far before DD "saw the light". My personal thought on it is that "someone" saw Hanley slumping and realized that now is the right time to DFA him, when they could somewhat justify it. Otherwise they could very well have an indefensible position in a lawsuit. If you want to know why something happens "follow the money".
  5. The thing I find the most curious about DFA'ing Hanley is that what started out to be a logjam at 1B has now turned into not having a safety net. Haley played a serviceable 1B but is gone and Sam Travis is struggling in AAA. Who's next in line if Moreland gets hurt or falters? Is it Swihart, who has all of TWO games at 1B? Do we try to convert JDM to 1B, a position he's played fewer games than Swihart has there? Also, doesn't this have to impact on how much JDM gets to play in the OF? That seemed to be a commitment the Sox had made to him at the signing.
  6. Auhhh.. I dunno. The seem to have a big commitment to getting JDM into that outfield.
  7. It gets a third from me.
  8. I never understood the philosophy that we should go into the season with the intent of limiting Hanley's PA so his option doesn't vest. If Hanley hits as well as he did during April he'd be a key to winning the division. Now that he's gone into a slump it may be time to rethink this. As you said, resting Hanley for a few games would be a win situation in two ways. It would limit his PA's as well as finding out if that rest would create a resurgence in his offense. If that rest doesn't bring about that resurgence the problem takes care of itself. If Hanley does come back strong after the rest then September could be interesting as the FO tries to limit his PA's as well as win the division.
  9. Did you read the thread? It'll answer your question and explain what happened.
  10. That sound you hear is the wheels rolling around after they've come off the Rays.
  11. Come on back. SC30 has been banned for a while. And as far as Natick goes, I have him on ignore, but that feature allows you to see each post individually, but only if you want to - which I do occasionally. It's working for me.
  12. I'm not sure Hanley is the one I want up in this situation.
  13. Even more odd, JBJ is slated to bat 8th tonight and play CF. Maybe the guy blew it. Sorry... what will happen will happen, I guess.
  14. I've exhausted all my usual suspects to find more info on it but cant. However, the DJ just doubled down on it doing a short blurb about it on his show. So I don't know what to say.
  15. That was my reaction too. I just heard it on the radio. The local DJ is a big Sox fan and has always gotten his facts straight in the past. But I'll see if I can find a link.
  16. New word at 5:00 pm 5/23 on JBJ. Cora has said that JBJ will be optioned to Pawtucket when Pedey comes back.
  17. True. It's easy to get down on Bradley when one thinks about all the RBI's the teamcould have if JBJ could just get on base. I agree that JBJ needs to just plain GET ON BASE more, even if it doesn't result in more runs scored though.
  18. I thought his swing was better last night on the two hits he got. Quick and compact. IIRC on his last AB the ball was on the outside of the plate and he pulled it - because the swing was a little longer. But... progress is progress! Two things to remember: 1) If he goes 0-4 in his next game it DOESN'T mean that he'll never hit again. 2) if he goes 4-4 in his next game it doesn't mean it's time to trade him, while his value is higher. I'll be surprised if he plays tonight though. It seems like every time a struggling player gets a couple of hits he sits the next game out.
  19. What a stupid ballpark.
  20. Will someone please put this guy back on his meds!
  21. That thought made me literally LOL.
  22. Sorry.. same thought, typing at the same time. Oops
  23. More importantly, he put two good swings on the ball.
  24. He just didn't believe JBJ was going to make that catch!
