  1. Think BEER. It always helps me.
  2. The Yankees fans just have to realize that the bottom of their lineup isn't that good. There's no way they can carry that into the playoffs. That team needs some major changes immediately if they're going to be contenders. Their pitching staff struggles, their BP gives up too many runs, heck, that team just got swept by the RAYS! LOL Now if I could just find a Yankees forum to post this on......
  3. That was a safe prediction because it's true. JBJ's been hitting the ball well lately anyway. Kimmie pointed out that .079 BAPIP of JBJ's a couple of days ago. It's just that today the balls weren't hit right at someone. Sometimes all you need is one break to turn things around. The liner of the 1B glove early in the game may have been that break.
  4. I thought the same thing, but the Sox seemed ok with it.
  5. I'm pleased to get out of that with only one run. I saw a replay of last night's 1st inning after Dee's hit.
  6. These are the standings going into tonight's game according to MLB. NYY 50-23 .685 BSN 51-26 .667 1 game back If I'm right about this - and I may not be because this sometimes confuses me - this could be the results after tonight's games. If the Yankees lose and the Sox win... NYY 50-24 .676 BSN 52-26 .667 Do we go from 1 game back to 2 games back after a win?? I realize that the "games back" doesn't mean much of anything unless the teams have played the same number of games but still....
  7. As frustrated as I get with the information and misinformation coming out of our medical staff I also realize with HIPPA being what it is now they're in a tough situation. On the one hand they have fans clamoring for information about injuries and OTOH they have the player's legal rights to not have personal medical information disclosed. And on the THIRD hand the FO has a vested interest in not having too much information about injuries made public because of the competitive advantage it would give other teams. Sometimes I think the smartest thing they could do is to take the Bill Belichick approach and deadpan that every injured player is listed as "day to day' whether they have a hangnail or a broken bone. It wouldn't satisfy my curiosity but at least it would stop the raising of false hopes.
  8. As usual with our medical staff when I read what they've said I simply say to myself, "That's what they said. I wonder if that's the real story."
  9. Lin, SS Beni, LF JDM, RF Moreland, 1B Holt, 2B Devers, 3B Nunez, DH. (Yes, that's what it says) Vazquez, C Bradley, CF
  10. As Jimmy Buffett says, "It's just a livin' example of love in decline."
  11. Ask your kids... or your grandchildren. They'll know.
  12. Ya. I think we all know people who've made mistakes in their young lives. At one point I played on a softball team where the running joke was that we led the league in "Time Served". :-) None of it mine, BTW! Most of it was DWI time and it was back before there was as much emphasis on DWI as there is now, but still.....
  13. Ok. I see where you're coming from. It's ok to point out that he's trolling but we can't call him a troll. Actually I like most of his posts when he's not trolling. He provides insight into medical things, etc. as well as a Yankees point of view. I'm good with that.
  14. What is it that they say... that no good deed goes unpunished? Sorry, man. If you'd asked for my input - which you didn't - I'd be saying to let this sleeping dog lie. You've done a good job of explaining yourself. Now let it go and post no more on it. But you didn't ask. :-)
  15. Having Brock Holt on the roster who can play both IF and OF gives Cora the luxury of carrying an extra pitcher. Now he needs to use that extra pitcher.
  16. Ya can't do it, and you can't even call him a troll. He's got seniority and is grandfathered against posts like that.
  17. That in itself will be a blesssing. Last night may even keep Harmony at bay too!
  18. As I was watching last night's game it occurred to me how many posters here got frustrated with the negotiations for JDM and were ready to move on. That's why DD is the GM and we're just online posters.
  19. I have the ultimate respect for Pedey and what he brings to the field. I always have and always will. However, we don't see or hear much of what comes out of the clubhouse. Different players have different attitudes and I have to admit that I wasn't impressed by "It's not me, it's them". IMO a functional clubhouse has a "we" and not a "me and them" in it.
  20. It's a funny thing about inconsistency. It means that sometimes they hit and sometimes they don't. I'm saying that given our pitching staff they may not have to hit in order for the Sox to win, and just one hit from one of them might be the difference in a low scoring game. Low scoring games between quality teams come down to pitching and which pitcher makes the mistakes. I like our staff. Not as much as I'd like the advantage YS gives the Yankees if I were a Yankees fan, but I like them. My point - which you chose to ignore - was that the Yankees are going to beat in Yankee Stadium". But thanks for your "concern".
  21. The Y's have also played 6 more home games than the Sox have. Given that short porch in YS and the team built to take advantage of it the Y's could falter a little on the road where they have to play in real stadiums.
  22. I've been wondering about that for some time.
  23. Given our pitching staff I'll take the Sox chances against any team in a short series. The Sox may not score a lot of runs but they also won't allow a lot of runs. They'll be low scoring games and those games can be won with a break here and there. My biggest concern is the home field advantage the Yankees have in that bandbox "stadium". If they have home field advantage in all series (and it looks like they may have) that advantage could well be the difference.
