  1. Well in poker if you are dealt a bad hand then the solution is simple get new cards. Dump every player that disappoints you and go out to Walmart and get new ones.
  2. Good points Dewey. Bat speed is also due to the speed of the shoulders, arms. and wrists. Hank Aaron excelled at HRs because he had a great bat speed and not necessarily the strength of Frank Howard or Jim Rice. Some tennis players have fast serves despite being short and less muscular because they have perfected the toss, leverage, and mechanics.
  3. Needed and missing here are lists of those who confessed to taking steroids, were on patient lists of the Miami clinic, and had legal evidence collected about such drug use. The speculation lists carry little weight compared to the other lists.
  4. The Boston media, talk shows, and social media are the toughest on a manager than in any other MLB city. It will never change. It must have something to do with the Puritan or Pilgrim ethic of needing to punish oneself and feel guilty about enjoying oneself. These folks demanded cold, unheated churches and living with no joy.
  5. Babe has been on several Red Sox forums for at least five years inferring that Papi is a steroid user. He never tires of the routine and there are always posters who go for the bait. Boring.
  6. Rich Gedman is working with Castillo at Pawtucket trying to get him to be more patient on pitch selection.

  8. My original point was what several NESN commentators said on the air. Clay in 3-4 outings was done in by one bad pitch and it mirrored my thoughts about those games. Call the NESN guys stupid and call me foolish if you wish to. I don't really care or enjoy arguing over minutia. If you hate Clay and wish him the worst then go ahead with that way of rooting. My way feels better - to me anyway.
  9. Four consecutive HRS by a pitcher would be similar to Tom Brady throwing four consecutive interceptions. In basketball, four airballs by Steph Curry.
  10. Are you saying that giving up four consecutive HRs is the same as three walks followed by a HR? In which case is the pitcher better or is it a tie? Perhaps a pitching coach, a manager, and intelligent fan are not needed and one should only look at the box score instead. Follow the game via telegraph instead of watch it on TV. Right?
  11. Is NESN going to be broadcasting any Pawsox or Seawolves games this season like they did in previous years. I believe that MLB-TV also has a minor league package that one can subscribe to for someting like $80 per season that will have some games on.
  12. It appears to me that some of the NESN color commentators don't want to have a full schedule, travel to every game, and be away from home that much. Thus NESN has assembled a deep, diverse team to back up Remy and each brings his own unique personality and qualities to the broadcast. None of annoy me that much. I guess that I concentrate on the game and the announcers are background noise to me. I watch the pregame and sometimes the postgame shows and find them to be informative, entertaining, and offer great insight on the game.
  13. Price, Porcello, and and Wright are good and Kelly was great yesterday. Buccholz seems to be one bad pitch per game away. Fingers crossed on ERod.
  14. The NESN announcers like many of us have noticed that Buccholz gets burned by one bad pitch in many of his losses. Take away that bad pitch and the remainder of the game was good.
  15. Please forgive me for looking for a ray of sunshine in a cloudy sky instead of being a wet blanket who only looks at box scores. Did you watch the game? Watching games and noting all of the good things is much more rewarding than looking at final scores and saying " All is lost".
  16. If Hanley had swung a split-second sooner or later he would have hit a go ahead HR in the ninth. On contact I thought that it was gone. Too bad but KC made the great plays and we failed to hit in the clutch.
  17. I was referring to what Kimmi stated previously about the attacks on Pablo's character and integrity. We are all aware about his statistics and health problems. What none of us have the facts on is his true character. All I see here is opinions and speculation. Much like fourth graders.
  18. A few years back many fans were of the opinion that JD Drew didn't care and wasn't a team player. It was just opinions and had no factual basis. Same with the above with the attacks on the character and personal integrity of Pablo. Any fool can have a baseless opinion.
  19. Calling Dr. Phil. Why is it better to vent in a forum instead of internalizing frustration and despair? Give us the answers Phil.
  20. Price really slows the game down. Between pitches yesterday a did a laundry, vacuumed two rugs, and made a lasagna. It must be tough playing defense behind him. He'll return to form. I say that based on probability theory and because I am an optimist.
  21. I appreciate a moderator who weeds out redundant and irrelevant threads on a daily basis. Profanity is most effective when used sparingly. It loses its punch when overdone such as in the army barracks. Good job moderator.
  22. Kimmi seems to be aware that character assasination should not be based on lost revenue only. It's fine to cry over zero performance return on a huge contract and we all feel that way. I just don't know the personal details well enough to blame the character and integrity of Pablo for the situation. Contract wasn't insured - a bad business decision but I believe that MLB tax laws allow a depletion allowance in such situations.
  23. The team jelled on the field after Farrell got cancer. Hitting and pitching improved greatly. If you wish to male a causal statistical relationship on if it being the absence of Farrell or the managing of Lovullo then that is up to you. My guess is that the difference was the players and not the manager. Lovullo has said he same.
  24. Lots of time left. RS hit a few balls long or hard.
  25. Notin was a tremendous poster at the other forum. He is a gentleman, scholar, articulate, level-headed, patient, and a loyal fan.. He will be well received here.
