  1. Xander has forgoten the basic mantra of hitting: wait, wait, wait---quick, quick, quick He's in a bad slump, and is over anxious. He should, and will be, dropped in the batting order.
  2. My guess: We have just witnessed Tazawa'a last pitch in a RS uniform.
  3. My Suggestion of the Day for DD. Stop picking up bargains from the NL. You'd be better off getting them from Portland!
  4. I guess that's because his OBP is .355? And his OPS is . And he has more home runs than Ortiz? Wow, those are all great reasons! 926? Just think how dumb the managers were who batted William, Ruth, Musial and ivery other (best hitter on the team in the 3 or 4 hole? Wow, I wonder how manu runs Gehrig would have driven in had he been leading off?
  5. Hey, fellas! Hoe's this working out? Or is it too "small a sample"? And why was it considered "goofy" when I proposed it last April? And, why have I not come across any posts that said, "well, the old fart was right after all!"
  6. Yeh, they've gone from having a super bullpen to a not so great group
  7. Now it's 8-6. (But I'm still typing, so it maybe de different by the time I hit 'enter'. I switched over, but don't know if my heart rate and BP will be able to put up with it.
  8. Not just the second half. It's been a case of "As Mookie goes, so go the Red Sox", almost the entire year.
  9. Mookie, Mookie, MOOOKie!
  10. This one IS on DD. What a crew!
  11. One Vegas odds maker has Altuve way ahead. Coming next are Donaldson, Trout, Big Papi, then Betts.
  12. Yes, also Machado
  13. Right now, to me, this is a 2-man race, with Altuve leading Betts, and Trout a very distant 3rd. Anybody see a sleeper? If this were the old Suffolk Downs, I would have them this way: Altuce at 5-2 Betts at 9-2 Trout at 6-1 Big Papi at 12-1 (and maybe slipping a little as he wears down)
  14. F--- the OBP's. Betts was the lowest of the lot. There's nothing like the eyeball test! Twice, now, this year he's had three dingers in one game. He's finally where he belongs in this line-up----or any other line up for that matter. If it weren't for Untuve, Betts would be a run away for the MVP. Any people still want him to lead off?
  15. Betts should have been in the three hole all year! AND, I've been saying that since April. So Betts had an 0-fer; today he had three dingers. Tomorrow it;ll be somewhere in between. Anbody who thinks he should be put back in the lead-off slot must have been watching something else besides Red Sox Baseball all year/
  16. I guess Mookie's knee and ankle are OK
  17. He belongs in the 4 hole as long as he's healthy. And he belongs on the bench if he isn't. Mookie is by far the most valuable player we have, and I would not let him near RF or the batters' box if he has leg/foot problems. Some people forget that Mookie's OBP is .350. Compare that with is SLG, OPS Hitting with runners in scoring position (almost .500!) and there should not even be a discussion of him returning to the lead off spot.
  18. He'd walk all over JF. Friction would be like un-lubricated gears on a tractor.
  19. While we're on the subject, m'boy Mooky looked "tentative', or maybe tired, last night. His first 2 at bats he watch 90 mph first pitch fastballs slide on by, dead center, with a nore saying, HIT ME! That's what he was doing when he was hitting .270. If he doesn't "return" tonight, I'd have him over to Mass General first thing tomorrow.
  20. Oh, yeh, he'd be a GREAT influence in the clubhouse. I wouldn't take him if he came for nothing.
  21. Toronto and NY have already won this afternoon. Yes, I am concerned about the Yankees.
  22. And DD says he'e interested in talking to him!!!!! No way, Jose!!!!! Paps has got problems that have nothing to do with his fastball!
  23. The "NEW" lineup has played two games, Both with only partial service from key players because of injury. When Young comes back (if he eve does) to platoon with the new kid in LF, I think we'll be fine. It's when the relievers start their parade that the "lineup" gets weak.
