  1. How many times has m'boy been picked off first this year? Three, four?
  2. All eRod needs is some sort of breaking ball, and some sort of command. I wonder what he'd bring on the open market this winter. Not much, I guess.
  3. I wouldn't mind seeing 8 lefties and Betts hitting against this guy.
  4. Two Ray's off-booth Rat's announcers just ranted about Porcello calling the Cy Young a "sure-thing" for him.
  5. Say what?
  6. He fanned 9 straight times. How can he be on this roster ahead of Vasquez?
  7. If I were going to start a MLB team tomorrow. Betts would be my !1 pick. and not even close. He's every bit as good, right now, as Trout or any of the other candidates.
  8. Iy;s called persona. On the other hnad, Archer is big on visiting hospitals, kid's camps, etc in the Tampa Vat area. One of those people who is not what he looks like, i guess.
  9. This thread is long over due. I think Mookie is odds-on right now. Would be something to have them both in the house (MVP and Cy Young)
  10. I remembr checking the odds on this back in the spring, and saw Porcello at 1000-1. What is he now? Odds-On? I never bet sports, so I was doing a general check on RS pitchers. Will we get both AL awards?
  11. I wonder if Mookie ever hits after the game is over? Like Teddy, he likes to take the first pitch, and never argues with umpires. I recall something about, when a picher was new to Williams, that he chatted up the 1B umpire when he got on base looking for tips. Mookie wold get tossed if he tried that today.
  12. And we're sending someone to the mound that should be in the bullpen. This has got to be this guy's last shot===at least for this year, While I'm on the subject, has amyone else notivied that Mookie has all the umps on his side? He gets a pitch outside called a strike, he never even looks. He gets called out on strike, he drops his bat, takes off the leg armor, and walks to the dugout. Guy not only has all the tools, he's got more brains than many of the other guys. Or is it simply discipline?
  13. It took JF a long time to recognize what a strting lineup should look like. That is, leadoff guy who take a lot of pitches, and bloop singles to reight field, huys in the 3 and 4 spots who drive in runs. He finally recognized that, and he finally had abullpen to work with. I was ready to give up on him, but I at least revel in the dugout shots that show him bot chewing gum or throwing crap into his mouth all night. Yes, right now I would re-sign him. He's proving that nice guys don't always finish last, so I guess I'll troll along for the the rest of this season.
  14. He gets day off, Hanley gets a day off, everybody gets a day off except Mookie and JBJ! Both looing good right now, but big time basball is coming up in October, and I would like to see them fresh. Dustin already has a day-odf "tummy schedule" I realize the B Boys are still young, but i'll bet they're aching here and there also.
  15. That's exactly why it will be so necessary to win the division. Your big three will have to be the rotation. Not clrear to me, yet, who that 3rd man will be. Probably Buck. eRod and Pomeranz are hopeless. Almost time to think about awards. Here again, if we win the division and go to the WS, Pocello will be a shoo-in. If Mookie gets quickly back to August form (and it's beginning to look like it), we could have the pair winning the top awards. That would put a nice stamp on the year . 2016. By the way, on August 3, Porcello was 1000-1 to win the Cy Young. If I were (still) a betting man, I think I would take 5-1 right noow.
  16. Three Three months ago I would have given him away. Now, I see no reason not to pencil him in at 1B for next year (unless he reports looking like Pablo). He's changed his attitude and worked (obviously) very hard to learn how to play first base.
  17. Beltran will be 40 in April. I wonder what Pablo looks like these days!
  18. If you're on a train going back to Fitchburg,or wherever, listen to train wheels, and chant--- Heinie Manush, Heinie Manush, Wally Berger Wally Berger, Mookie Betts, Mookie Betts. You'll be asleep in 2o seconds!
  19. There have been nad moves and non-moves, this year. Girardi jjust broke the record for non-calls. He'll be crcified in NY before dawn! CC was obviously done, and Girardi was thinking of the 5 inning thing. But then, HE ACTUALLY BROUGHT HIM OUT FOR THE 6th!
  20. There have been nad moves and non-moves, this year. Girardi jts broke the record for non-calls. He'll be cricified in NY before dsawn!
  21. Hopefully that's the last we'll see of Pomeranze; at least as a starter. Put him in the the BP. Either go with only 4 starters, or give Kelly a shot. I'd go with just the four. Either way, please, no more of Pomeranze.
  22. WALLY BERGER, WALLY BERGER, WALLY BERGER! My first baseball "hero" just got the first notice on national TV that he has ever got! Finally!
  23. Baltimore squeaked out a 2-1 win, but LA leads Toronto 40zip in the 8th.
  24. Couch potato day. And enough coffee to keep me awake for three days! Thw O's and the Dolphins look like beaten teams. O's may have lost Wiley. Sore back.
  25. His overall demeanor sets him apart. That, and the way his anxiousness has not kept from being relatively patient at the plate. He's been in a terrible (for him) hitting slump for about three weeks and nobody noticed! Last night, pressure and slump be-damned he got his base hit in the ninth when the odds must have been 10-1 against it. Bottom line, I've been a rabid Red Sox fan since about 1934, and I have never seen a total package like this. Time will tell, but you guys are going to see something special over the next ten years!
