Do you like the idea of going after a 2Bman NOT CF'er and using Hernandez where he seems to be better defensively (CF)?

I expected at least 2 deals like this- deals that help in 2021 and also 2022 and beyond. Now, I'm wondering, if we do just one! It's like we are punting to 2022 with all these one year deals. Now, this may work out, as maybe we can trade some of these one year players, beef up our farm, and then have a lot of budget space to splurge next winter. Even so, how can it hurt to add one three year guy?

Could we be looking at the Enrique Hernandez signing from the wrong angle? I know the sample sizes are not too large, but out of 74 CF'ers with 600+ innings in CF since 2017, Enrique places 7th in UZR/150 at +10.4. (JBJ is at 4.0.) Since 2015, he places 6th out of 71 CF'ers with 900+ innings in CF- just ahead of Lorenzo Cain. (JBJ is 18th at 4.9.) At 2B, he places 69th out of 72 2Bmen since 2015 at -6.7. Maybe, we should be looking for a 2Bman NOT a CF'er! Kolton Wong is still out there,right? Jonathan Schoop?

None of the trades I mentioned would come close to "decimation." I'll be thrilled if these 4 combines even play 2 years in MLB, let alone at the level Taillon is.

Not impressed. Give me PIllar or a trade for a plus defender in CF and a decent bat.

No you can't, so that's one reason I provided 4 or 5 examples. I'm not saying any would have been preferred by Ben, but my suggested offers are likely close to what it might have taken. (I bet Ben would take the one with Jimenez in it.)

Only because you think a team spending over $200M a year will take 5 years to rebuild. (We're already in year 2 or 3.) BTW, your team took just days to rebuild. Remember?

It's like both teams are in a competition to see who can have the most question marks on their staffs. Despite O'Day's fine numbers the last few years, he only has 42 IP over the last 3 seasons combined. He just turned 38, but at $1.75M, there is little risk.

I'm just hoping Beni can do well in his half of a platoon with Renfroe in LF. I want a reac CF'er added to this team. I'd be fine with a 2Bman and moving EHern to CF, too. He's a good defender in CF.

Probably not, unless we seem some serious bounce back. Toronto has the advantage, as of now, but not by all that much. Renfore should be better on O than JBJ. EHern should be better on O than what we had at 2B, last year. Dalbec for a full season should help, but we had a .942 OPS at 1B, last year. None of these compare to the Jays additions on O. We need big bounces from JD, Devers & Beni.
