  1. Again, I'm not doubting the sticky fingers stuff. I just said maybe that was not the only reason he has sucked, recently. His numbers before the crackdown showed some alarming issues.
  2. A while ago, I aid Richards' leash was short. He's down to a choke chain, now.
  3. Looks like moving him to 1B solves 2 big issues at 1B: defense and offense.
  4. Maybe Dugo needs the day off.
  5. He really is the gem of the season.
  6. Do not be surprised, if the Yanks go with another manager and go on a tear!
  7. He was on the IL, right?
  8. I’m for cutting Andriese, yesterday. Keep Rios and bring up Houck to start for Richards. IL Richards or demote to the pen. I’d even start an opener over Andriese and seriously stretch out Whitlock- something they have not come close to doing.
  9. I like Marwin on the team, too- as a defensive replacement and spot starter, just not 450-500 PAs, please.
  10. We may end up losing the season on defender, but Marwin ain’t winning it for us.
  11. I have never said Marwin will or even should be DFA'd. One point was, he never gets the grief others hitting 150-200 points higher are getting. Another point was about the fact that he should not be 3 PAs away from 8th on the team. He should be more of a late inning defensive replacement who starts when a player needs a break or there is nobody better. Look, I was fine continuing to play JBJ when he was having long stretches of .500 hitting, or worse, but Marwin is no JBJ on defense.Yes, he has player very good D, this year, but he is not known as a great defender, and not enough to warrant getting 450-500 PAs, like he's on pace getting. He's better than Santana, who should be DFA'd any day now and probably Chavis, who might be on his last chance with the Sox. The Arroyo & Kike injuries forced him to play more than maybe he would have, but 450-500 PAs? Sorry. I don't like that.
  12. Why Rios? He's pitching well. (Put Richards on the IL.)
  13. I agree, and if his comp is someone like Oswalt, how can someone take a chance that Jobe will be better than Oswalt? (Maybe they don't see Leiter being an Oswalt.) I can see taking a position player as being "safer," but I'm not sure HS position players are safer than proven college pitchers.
  14. On the farm, today. Our old friend Blake Swihart scored 4 runs against us, and Worcester lost 8-4. Cordero 2-4 Herrmann 2-4, R de la Guerra 2-3, HR, BB Duran 0-4, BB Ort 1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 ER Portland won 5-1. Castellanos 2-4, HR Potts 1-4, HR Greenville lost 9-5 Gambrell got shelled Reed hit his 9th, Dearden his 8th and Sogard is 6th. Salem won 11-10 Jimenez 2-5 Lugo 2-5 Davis 3-5, 2HR, 2B All 9 batters got a hit
  15. I like your post game quips. Keep 'em coming.
  16. CBS/MLB Mock Draft 6/25 1. Mayer 2. Lawlar 3. Jobe 4. Leiter 5. Davis 6. Watson 7. Rocker Callis has us getting Lawlar; Law has us getting Davis; Zielinski has us getting Davis; Collazo & McDaniel have us getting Leiter.
  17. I agree. Davis is close to Leiter, but Leiter is #1. I'd pass on the HS SSs. Rocker is my #3. I have a sense one or more of these 3 will fall to the 4 slot.
  18. Yes, I'm not saying he wasn't one of the worst of the bunch, but to me you either did it or you did not. I'm not sure how the degree of how much you used it matters. Maybe it helped him more than others, and that's why he's having a harder time adjusting to not being able to use it. Certainly, that could be the main reason for his recent meltdown. My point was about him showing wild streaks all year, even before this recent stretch. There is a chance his looking extra bad, recently is not all about the loss of sticky fingers.
  19. Kike & Chavis for Torres.
  20. There is also a good chance he's made some meaningful adjustments by then and is not viewed as an offensive liability.
  21. For a while, it looked like just about everyone was suffering from the sticky fingers crackdown. I'm not sure it was all related to that. Richards was wild and unpredictable before sticky fingergate. His leash is shortening with every piss-poor start.
  22. That's the best bad news you've pointed out all year.
