  1. I project a Chavis & Groome trade before the deadline.
  2. Agreed. Although the bottom of our 40 man has improved, recently, we still have players that are not all that promising. We just DFA'd Brice, and nobody took him- great spin rate and all.
  3. "Later this year," yes.
  4. You mean first pick not first round, right?
  5. That is certainly a factor, and maybe a guy like Leiter would not want to sign for "less."
  6. We might not have seen the last of Franchy. He has a few years of team control and 2 options left. Who knows, if he starts to rake in AAA, maybe we even see him again, this summer.
  7. How long is Bazardo out for?
  8. Yes. For a while, i was thinking the consensus was there were 3 easy picks, then a drop from #3 to #4. That does not seem to be the case, anymore, and even if Rocker, Leiter and Lawlar are all gone by #4, I feel much better about us getting Davis, House or a HS shortstop.
  9. I'm pretty sure teams all have players ranked by some measurement system. It's possible they have two players very closely rated and ranked- maybe even tied. Who know what they use for a tie-breaker? Positional needs 4-6 years down the road is hard to project. Strength of the program they are coming from and the opps they faced in college? Genealogy? Size, injury history or likelihood?
  10. Neither Casas nor Ockimey are on the 40 man roster. I seriosly doubt Ockimey is added. My only point was he's a head of casas, right now, even without the Olympics which surely puts him ahead. Santana, Marwin and then Chavis are next in line- perhaps in that order. If we decide to add someone to the 40 to platoon at 1B, who knows when and who it might be: Ockimey, Munoz or Casas. A September call up might be their best hope. Casas will be rule 5 in December, so adding him, late in the year might make him jump over others, assuming all are doing well vs RHPs.
  11. I used to go through great pains to not watch any sports shows or see the score, until I had watched the game. My old routine was to start watching the games about an hour after it started on tape delay, fast forward the commercials and pitching changes or game delays and catch up live around the 8th or 9th inning. It was very difficult to watch the rest of a game, if I knew the final score, but I still did for many years, but that rarely happened.
  12. That's basically it, as far as we know. The Sox, over the last 2 decades, have done a remarkable job projecting the future value of their own players at or right before they reach free agency. I was on the front seat of the sign Betts bandwagon, but I trust Bloom & Co. crunched the numbers and did the right thing, or at worst it wasn't a bad choice made.
  13. The amount of sons and brothers of MLB players in MLB over the years is way higher than the norm, so I do think the name "Leiter" carries some weight or may be the "tie-breaker" for one team.
  14. We have an immediate need for a platoon at 1B, but Santana & Marwin are already on the ML roster. Marwin is hitting very poorly and has been all year. He may end up below Cordero, at this rate. I've been Santana's number one cheerleader, but I know this could all be a house of cards for him. Then again, maybe he gives us a 2018-like season, and we are all clamoring for him to be re-signed. I'd give Chavis a shot before Ockimey, despite the wrong splits- actually, Chavis has hit RHPs(.730) slightly better than LHPs (.728) in limited ML action. Chances are Ockimey never plays for the big team. I get that. One reason I hype him so much was that he was my "sleeper prospect" years ago. I'm being selfish.
  15. I'm not all that sure I want us outbidding everyone for ERod. I really like Barnes, but we all know how RP'ers are streaky, and it wasn't long ago, nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody wanted Barnes even close to being our closer. The other free-agent-to-be's are: Ottavino Marwin Santana We have team options on Richards, Vaz, Perez and Andriese.
  16. I didn't even look at Ockimey's small 2021 sample size, and the split to look at is vs RHPs- not LHPs. Dalbec struggles vs RHP. Okimey kills RHPs and always has at least done well. .898 in 287 ABs (not PAs) in 2019 AAA .968 in 205 ABs in 2018 A & AA .844 in 241 ABs in 2017 A+ .831 in 334 in 2016 A .825 in 153 in 2015 A- Dalbec in the minors vs RHPs: .794 in 2019 (260 ABs at AA) .970 in 2018 (247 A + AA) .753 in 2017 (17 at A) I also think Casas will pass Ockimey, this year, but he hasn't, yet and may not. He's also playing in the Olympics, so Ockimey is a head of him at this moment..
  17. Kershaw's was a good 7 year deal, but he wasnt a FA (neither was Betts when extended.) A-Rod's first deal looked pretty good. Votto's is not all that bad. Some like the Jeter deal from 2001-2010, despite him being the worst defensive SS in my lifetime. Verlander's 7 year deal was good. Tanaka's, too. The vast majority were bad. My guess is the majority were horrible.
  18. Law & Callis both have Davis gone before our pick but having a choice between House, Rocker & Leiter in one mock is a nice. The Rocker- House one is not bad either. Who knows? Maybe, Davis, Leiter and Rocker all fall to our pick. I still wish teams could trade draft picks. The excitement would grow.
  19. That may be rare, but I was talking about first round, and especially top 5-10 picks.
  20. I literally watched every pitch of every game for several years in a row, as I taped them all. I've missed a few in the last few years, and I think I had seen every one, until last night. (I dont feel like going back and watching, either.
  21. Yes, and we may end up somewhere between 15-20. Maybe Brasier, Sale, Houck, Bazardo and others can help.
  22. When was the last year the Yanks had just a normal amount of injuries to key players, let alone less than the norm?
  23. That has to be part of the problem with Yankees. The worst part is that Cashman seems to ignore the reasons behind many of the injuries. It's not bad luck.
  24. Ockimey kills righties. Wow, that happens to be the platoon we need for Dalbec,
  25. Ockimey is ahead of Casas, right now. He may be behind others, including Munoz, but he is ahead of Casas, today- even without the Olympics.
