  1. I don't think any GM, in their right mind, trades a good young controllable pitcher for Casas, unless the team is cheap and the pitchers is about to begin his first or second of 4 arbs. No, I have nobody in mind. If we decide to move Devers to 1B and extend him, I'd think about trading Casas. Right now, I'm thinking of keeping all our best prospects and maybe making trades to get more.
  2. Whitlock is not stretched out enough to go more than maybe 3 innings.
  3. How about Sale, Whitlock or Houck/Seabold?
  4. The Rays have done a great job, and they still are blowing us away on the farm, but maybe the tide is turning on the Yanks... BTV has these values for Rays prospects: 125 Franco 56 Brujan 23 Baz 18 Edwards 16 Lowe 16 Colmenarez 14 Jones 13 Hunt 12 Gross 11 Ryan 9 Hernandez Yanks 38 Dominquez 24 Peraza 16 Schmidt 14 Vargas 14 Duran 12 Alcantara 11 Volpe 11 Medina 9 Wells Sox 48 Casas 45 Duran 25 Downs 11 Jimenez 10 Mata 9 Hernandez ©
  5. Did you see the pitch Franco hit for a homer?
  6. See what happens when you call up a prospect too early? LOL
  7. His great bat way outweighs his poor defense. Way, WAY, WAY!!!!
  8. His whole issue is he never makes extraordinary plays- well "never say never," but hardly ever. He makes all the plays hit right to him, which is very nice, and something some flashy SS don't always do, but he's been a huge minus on DRS and middle pack to below average in UZR/150. I'd say the best anyone could place him might be 18-20th, but hey, that's me. (I place him 25-28th.)
  9. You mean basically pay him $95M/4 plus what he would have gotten in his 2 arb years- tops. Not sure about that.
  10. That's what I thought, and if he's talking about all pitchers in general, that's not really calling out your own pitchers either.
  11. Man O Man, Devers can look real bad, at times.
  12. I love Bogey, don't get me wrong, but when I see plays made at SS like that one, I have to shake my head at those who call Bogey a plus defender.
  13. I know this thread is about 2021, but if Sale and Whitlock show they can be solid starters in 2022, maybe we can do this... Extend Barnes Sign a RP'er like Ottavino or Hand Sign Kris Bryant Move Devers to 1B Keep Dalbec as a possible future DH, 1B, 3B sub. 1. Verdugo LF/CF 2. Bryant 3B/LF 3. JD DH 4. Bogey SS 5. Devers 1B 6. Renfroe RF 7. Duran CF/Dalbec LF/1B/3B 8. Vaz 9. Hernandez CF/2B/Arroyo 2B/Cordero LF/Dalbec
  14. I think defense. How s***** it is.
  15. I'd offer him a fair deal that brings him past his final arb, but nothing real large and long. To me, Devers is #1 priority lock down.
  16. It's what they do. The things that don't show up in glitzy stats or any at all.
  17. He did not look great in the first, but he looked good enough to get out of the inning without a run- had we had a decent defense.
  18. It's not like the balls thrown were big misses. I thought 2 were strikes to Franco. Chopper hit to Bogey. Two errors. 0 ERs. Look, the guy has sucked, but he did not look bad in the first.
  19. Nobody is a good pitcher when the other team gets 5- 6 outs an inning.
  20. He wasn't talking about Sox pitchers, was he?
  21. I was never that high on Johnson, and I don't think anyone ever saw his ceiling as being any higher than a 4-5 starter I remember being high on Henry Owens and Anderson Espinoza. While Groome has been the #1 Sox prospects a couple times, and the last Sox pitcher to reach #1 on soxprospects.com, I never was very high on him, either. Even now, I like Bello and Song more than Mata, Ward & Groome.
