  1. One poster, in particular, has had it out for Nick since day one. Nick's had some down moments, for sure, but has usually kept them to 2-4 game stretches. He's really pitched like a 2-3 starter for much of his time with Boston. As a 4-5, he's one of MLB's best.
  2. We might also have Paxton available, later on, if the need for a starter arises. I kinda like the idea of using Sale in the pen, this year, but I fear he might overthrow and just make things worse.
  3. Maybe Cora thinks we can win more games by not spreading out the "restings." He minimizes the "sacrifice games." (I'm not defending the choice- just trying to make sense of it.)
  4. Is it worth trying him at 1B, of will he just be a DH?
  5. Crappy loss. Sawamura should never pitch in a situation like that again. If we DFA him, I would not care. The offense is sputtering, and it didn't help sitting Bogey & Story on the same night. Time to beat up on the M's. One game at a time.
  6. Bobby Dee to the rescue!
  7. So, that means certain defeat?
  8. It's the second inning.
  9. If Hickey was Greek, I'd have used his name. Can we call him the "Celtic God of Walks?"
  10. 1. Arroyo 2B 2. Devers 3B 3. JD DH 4. Verdugo LF 5. Vazquez C 6. Cordero RF 7. JBJ CF 8. Dalbec 1B 9. Arauz SS
  11. Might as well be you, but I hope I'm in the right line.
  12. Yes, and loyalty is another thing some managers go overboard on. If Cora had given up on Renfroe after his horrific 2021 April or Dalbec for his horrific April and May, I'm not sure anyone would have complained. Now, we can find examples where he stuck with several players, and it never panned out. I think Cora balances this area just right.
  13. Thanks for the clarifications and explanations.
  14. I think most players have a few up and down streaks in a season and over a career. I'm not sure Pivetta has been extremely up and down, except in the sense that he has been much better since joining the Sox than he was with Philly. 5.50 ERA w Philly (1.433 WHIP) 4.13 ERA w BOS (1.249) That being said, here are his cherry-picked sample sizes... 2022 10.30 ERA in first 3 starts 1.98 last 8 starts 2021 3.78 first 12 starts 5.63 middle 9 starts 4.43 last 9 starts (3.17 last 5)
  15. 7 in a row- all one game at a time. We were 13-8 before this streak, including a 6 game winning streak. A 7 and 6 game win streak within a 21 game stretch! We have not lost a series since being swept by the White Sox May 6-8, except for losing 3 of 5 v BAL.
  16. I stayed right-handed.
  17. I think Sawamura spent 2-3 days in AAA and Brasier 8 days.
  18. Yes, you are right about Brasier and Sawamura, and they weren't recalled due to anyone going on the IL, either.
  19. I looked in the rules and found nothing on this. I think that is only in the playoffs.
  20. The guy who got Whitlock & German for absolutely nothing from the Yanks? The guy who got Pivetta and Seabold for Workman & Hembree? The guy who got Wacha and Strahm for only $11M? The guy who got Schreiber off waivers? His major "issue" is avoiding getting arrested for grand larceny.
  21. Don't forget... Iggy .915 OPS + great D in 23 games Shaw .843 OPS and steady D in 28 games
  22. The Sox are forced to follow the rules. Please try to keep up, troll. A player sent down, must remain there for 10 days before being called up again. Does it make sense, now?
  23. Okay, how's this... Kavadas, the Greek Demigod of Walks
  24. One game at a time! Pivetta on the mound vs Ohtani.
