  1. Last year was last year. Forget about it!
  2. notin's got the intangibles that Haniger only dreams of having.
  3. Another might be Bellinger who has these career games started by position: 321 CF 214 !B 109 RF 37 LF
  4. Except he started 57 games vs RH'd SP'ers and 43 vs LH'd starters. While the ratios of starters vs LH'd pitchers is much higher (43 out of 52) than vs RH's starters (57 out of 110), this doesn't look like a platoon, to me. He started more games vs righties than he did not start. He was a starter in 2019, not a sub. Not a back-up. Other years, maybe and yes.
  5. That season, the Dodgers did seem to share the action among several players and play several players at multiple positions. I don't think doing that changes the fact that some players started and played in way more games than others and should not be called subs. Check this out... PAs at each position: C 228 Barnes 221 Martin 186 W Smith 1B 195 Muncy 139 Freese 119 Bellinger 92 Beaty 78 Pederson 9 Kike 2B 277 Kike 264 Muncy 78 Lux 59 Taylor 3B 521 J Turner 121 Muncy 3 Kike SS 534 Seager 133 Taylor 28 Kike LF 270 Pederson 124 Taylor 107 Beaty 73 Pollock 60 Verdugo 20 Kike CF 257 Pollock 232 Verdugo 86 Bellinger 72 Kike 49 Taylor RF 453 Bellinger 128 Pederson 68 Verdugo 29 Kike I suppose someone could argue the 2019 Dodgers had just 3 starters and 10 subs.
  6. Yes, for many it does. Not Kike.
  7. So be it. The Sox would probably not want to give up a pick to sign him, but if he's the best they can afford, maybe they would bite the bullet. (I think Haniger would take the QO.)
  8. "Super starter?" "Multipositional starter?" "Flex starter?" Or just "full timer." He starts and plays in more games than others labelled "FT'ers" or "starters."
  9. The worst part of calling him a "back-up," "sub" or "utilityman" is that he keeps following that up with some statement about him not "downing" Kike, when it is so obvious. He has a 13.5 bWAR over his last 2400 PAs (690 games), which comes to about a 3.3 bWAR over 162 games and 3.4 over 600 PAs While Kike is no stud, superstar or even a "star" player, he's damn good. He'd be a FT starter on just about every team in MLB.
  10. I think lefties do pretty well in Fenway. It might hurt some HR totals, but many LH'd hitter do very well in Fenway. I never really thought of Nimmo & Haniger, with Kike going to SS, but that would be one way of allowing more resources to go towards pitching upgrades.
  11. I was trying to think of someone better than Haniger but not as good as Nimmo, who can play RF and is a FA. Any suggestions?
  12. Yes, and being an amazing defender at 3 positions does not make him a sub due to not playing 140+ games at one position, only.
  13. A credit to the Astros offense. One pitch was out of the K zone.
  14. Castillo looked awesome, yesterday. You gotta give to get.
  15. If you had to choose between just these two choices, what would it be? Bogey & Haniger or Swanson & Nimmo
  16. Don't cancel Bernie!
  17. I'm not sure how murder or rape boosts a players career stats.
  18. Yes, my list is arbitrary. That's why it's my list. As for evidence. I've seen enough to convict.
  19. Then, Bregman, Tucker and others will beat your ass.
  20. Red Sox claim Jake Reed, RHP and designate Eduard Bazardo. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/10/red-sox-claim-jake-reed-designate-eduard-bazardo.html
  21. The same reason teams pitched to Big Papi, so many times.
  22. Ironically, the one Kike play I remember most was the dropped fly ball. LOL. I remember JD's granny in game 2 that put us up 4-0, early. I remember the bats dying, all at once. I didn't remember the two plays you mentioned, until you mentioned them.
  23. I learn something new, everyday.
  24. Of course, that's what you choose to remember. I remember those, too. I also remember the Sox being down 1 game to none and losing 5-2 to the Rays in game 2. I remember Kike going 5 for 6 with the game tying HR, 3 runs & 3 RBI, including a later a double to set up Devers HR. I also remember him going 3 for 6 in game 3, with 2 RBI, including the game tying one, and later a HR to put us up 4-2. Without that, Vaz nevers get up. Maybe you forgot the walk of sac fly by Kike to send us to the ALCS, but I didn't. Maybe you forgot him going 4 for 5 in game 1 vs HOU w 2 R and 2 RBI, including another game tying HR and a second HR in the 9th to bring us to within one run. 2 for 4 the next game with another HR is the win. 2 for 4 in the game 3 win. He got 1 of the team's 5 hits in the game 4 loss. He went hitless in the 3 hit loss to HOU in game 5. That memory must be burned in your brain, and his 1 of the team's 2 hits in the final game, too. No, this does not compare to Fisk, or Papi, or many other great WS moments, but it does need to be forgotten, either. It's also not saying he's a star or super star. Saying he is not a sub does not mean I think he's a stud. The guy is a great defender. He's a decent hitter. He did very well, when it counted most, last year- something that seems to matter to you in other cases. Yes, he wasn't the only guy bringing us close to making the WS, but it's not meaningless, just because the rest of the team didn't do what was needed.
  25. Not by "us" or "we." You and a few others feel as you do, but don't go saying "We agree..." to me.
