  1. Too bad we didn't become Tampa Bay North.
  2. JH has a very long leash with me.
  3. It looks like we could probably have afforded Nate & Kluber according to Spotrac. Had we not added Mondesi or Joely, we could have under cots. It was the years that scared the Sox away.
  4. Woo is getting beat badly, early. Por is down 7-3 halfway through. Rafaela is 2-3 w his 4th HR Kavadas 1-2 w BB Mayer 0-2 GRE is up big, early Jordan 2-2 w HR & 2B & BB Lopez & Ero 3-3 Paulino 2-3 w BB SAL up 2-0 in the 4th w Rain Delay JRamirez with 1 hitter Ferguson 1-3 w HR & BB
  5. More telling words and numbers... The last 7 starts (9 DAYS): 3 IP, Day Off, 5 IP, 5 IP, 4 IP, Day Off, 4 IP, 5 IP, 3.2 IP We also had May 18th off, which was 5 days before this list started.
  6. Chris Sale had a news conference at which he said he couldn’t provide details beyond the “inflammation” diagnosis, which seems to be a placeholder until they have something more specific. He had an MRI and a CT scan and has more tests scheduled. He did say he doesn’t think this will require surgery. 7. I'm concerned, too, but it could have been worse. It might end up being the rest of the season, but as of now, it isn't.
  8. The news could have been a lot worse, but I'm still frightened about his health, going forward. I like the way Bello & Paxton have looked and think Houck and Whitlock will greatly improve, but without Sale, I'm left with no more than a sliver of hope for 2023. MLBTR reports Sale is on the 15 day IL: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/06/red-sox-place-chris-sale-on-injured-list-with-shoulder-inflammation.html The Red Sox have placed starter Chris Sale on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his throwing shoulder. Corey Kluber was activated from the paternity list to take the active roster spot.
  9. The way most budget sites show it, we could have signed Nate instead of Kluber and still been under the tax line, but maybe with no wiggle room at the deadline.
  10. We have 2 on the rotation with slight variances in focus.
  11. We get the extra arm for the DH, too.
  12. Yes! JD was a great signing, and he was worth more than what we paid him. Not many players make me feel like that. It would have been fine to bring him back for one year, but we needed someone who could play 1B and back up Devers at 3B. Turner was a good signing. I hope his second half tradition of heating up, happens, this year.
  13. Nobody disagrees with this. BTW, Yoshida has been better than Bogey, Duvall/Duran better than JBJ/Pham, and Verdugo in RF better than Verdugo in LF. McGuire/Wong> Vaz/Plawecki, IMO.
  14. You'd think, if the pitcher said something, he'd change that style.
  15. It's funny how Casas and McGuire were supposed to be good on D, and Duran and Wong not so good.
  16. Another thing to factor in is ages at minor league levels: Duran reached A+ at 22 .999 in- 226 PAs AA at age 22 (2020 missed) .635 in 352 AAA at at age 24 .851 in 641 Casas only had 7 PAs at A+ at age 19 Reached AA at age 21 .879 in 329 AAA at age 22 .863 in 359 Rafaela reached A+ at 20 .962 in 209 AA at 21 .771 in 499
  17. 0.4 x 3 is better than average. (1/3 season) 2 yr bWAR (2022-2023) 2.5 Turner 2.0 JD 3 yr 6.0 Turner 5.2 JD 4 yr 7.5 Turner 4.4 JD fWAR 2 yr 2.8 Turner 2.0 JD 3 yr 7.1 Turner 4.8 JD 4 yr 8.5 Turner 3.8 JD
  18. That was over the top, for sure.
  19. I remember, not long ago, I suggested Turner might catch JD in a few weeks, and he ended up passing him that night. I guess 2022 was ridiculous, then... June 2 to the end of season: Turner added .121 JD lost .186
  20. Yes, it's too early to give up on Duran, but it's getting close to thinking platoon. (Maybe he should be, now.) .618 v LHPs 2023 .503 v LHPs career His much improved D has improved on his leash length, too.
  21. Thank you.
  22. That has been our number one weak area, this year, but IMO, not because it is burning out our pen. I don't think it is. The problem is, getting shelled early or in the 4th or 5th is what is losing most of our games.
