  1. There will likely be some shuffling, not matter where each player plays the most. I've always felt Dugo should be platooned, so maybe Dugo plays the bigger corner OF slot vs RHPs, only, and although Grisham bats LH'd, too, play him vs LHPs, so Judge can play RF some of the time. Maybe, they do trade Dugo, but if they don't, I think they try to play him vs all RHPs.
  2. Agreed. Right now, his best MLB talent is as a PR. Expanded utility might be his only way to stick to a ML club- probably not BOS.
  3. Yes. Is anyone really torn up we missed out on these guys? Sure, Nola, ERod or Gray would have been a nice signing, and I don't think any were overpaid, but the list of remaining SP'ers is better and longer.
  4. Probably not, unless we add a very good 2Bman and CF/RF'er who slugs RH'd. I'm not arguing I'd be happy with Imanaga and Lugo as the only starters added, but if these guys can give us 28+ GS and 160+ IP, our pen would be greatly improved, and some of our tweener pitchers would have better defined roles. Let's say the two start 55 games and 340 IP combined. They could replace 16 GS'd by "openers" plus 9 by Kluber (6.26 ERA) and 19 by Paxton (4.50). Let's say Bello gives us 28 and Pivetta 27. That gives is 120 starts. Hopefully Sale can eat 20-30 of the remaining 42, leaving just 12-22 for the "tweeners:" 23 Crawford 21 Houck 10 Whitlock These 54 could be cut drastically and added to the pen's IP. If we added 3 SP'ers, add Pivetta to that list, or we can add one of these guys to a package and get a real ace via trade.
  5. By bidding a couple $million more or adding length. I have to think the Yanks want to extend Soto. They will have Judge, Soto and Cole on their books. I doubt they are thinking, "We will pay whatever it takes for Yamo." It's hard to know how Cohen feels after getting bitch-slapped by his overpays, last winter. JH has the money: it's all about the will to spend it, and where he might think the cost becomes silly.
  6. I realize CF is more demanding, especially in Yankee Stadium, but it's not a minefield.
  7. Agreed, but I'm looking for more than mere "improvement." I'm all about Quality over quantity, at the moment, but if we go third tier, I'd hope we get 3 not 2 form that group. That would further strengthen the pen, especially with mulit-inning guys that would allow us to yank any SP'er early and often.
  8. Will he, again? I'm sure he will pitch, again, and I'm sure he will do fine, for a while, but I would not pay more than $280-300M for him. I would not be upset, if we paid $300-350M for him, but I doubt that gets it done, so I'm not even thinking about him, anymore. He's the type of signing I hope someone like the Yanks sign. His contract will cripple them for year.
  9. I agree. We need an ace not a bunch of 2-4's. I do think signing 3 from Stroman, Lugo, Imanaga or maybe Wacha/Clevinger would make our rotation significantly better than last year. Need I remind some just how bad our starters were, last year. Hell a 4.10 ERA is a 1/2 to 2 run improvement over much of what we saw in 2023. ERA as SP, only.... (listed by most GS) 4.24 Bello 28 GS (in the '24 rotation) 4.51 Crawford 23 5.01 Houck 21 4.30 Sale 21 (in '24 rotation) 4.50 Paxton 19 4.66 Pivetta 16 5.23 Whitlock 10 6.26 Kluber 9 We had 14 GS by pitchers with an SP ERA of .623 or higher. We had another 31 GS by SP'ers with an ERA between 5.00 and 5.25. We had another 60 between 4.50 and 4.66. I'm certainly hoping we look to improve to some guys who can go 3.50 to 3.75, but 3 guys between 3.80 and 4.40 could be a big boost.
  10. I'm not saying that's what he'd accept, but to be that's my top pay for a DH.
  11. Does CF have spikes in it, or what? Judge could hurt himself crashing into the short RF wall, just as easily as stepping on a CF spike.
  12. I know the vast majority of posters and experts would doubt tyhe Sox sign 3 SP'ers, but if we miss out on the top 2 tier pitchers, would anyone be okay with sign 3 from this group? Stroman Imanaga Lugo Clevinger Giolito Wacha If yes, which 3. (If no, which 3 do you prefer?)
  13. Based on not signing Nola, Gray, ERod and Maeda?
  14. Teel for India...lmao! I wouldn't give up Paulino.
  15. I'm hoping for better than that. If we go that low, I'd hope we sign 3 SP'ers.
  16. They'd be replacing... 19 GS Paxton 4.50 (96 IP/ 4.68 FIP) 9 GS Kluber 7.04 (55 IP/ 7.11 FIP) What do you think?
  17. Yes, SD. I fixed it. I'd rather have Urias/Reyes/EValdez than India.
  18. Ohtani would not get $280M from BOS.
  19. I think they put Judge in CF, and Grisham is the #4. If Grish batted RH'd, I'd platoon Dugo with him.
  20. ...and deep down on the prospect list, too. I know the 26th and 40th slots on the rosters usually are not super impactful, but I find it very interesting how the choices are made on the "odd men out."
  21. If you guys could get a legit leadoff hitter with a .380+ OBP, batting Soto & Judge 2-3 would be lethal. (Torres came closest, last year, at .347.)
  22. 2Bmen mentioned as possible trade targets: Kim from SD, who will be costly. Polanco from MN, who has MI depth.
  23. We could both be wrong. DHam could end up the best prospect below #20.
  24. Adding 3 OF'ers sure addressed that big need area, quickly.
