  1. I could see us resigning Duvall, then trading Dugo or Duran.
  2. Shoulda done i when his stock was higher.
  3. I'm not, nor ever have been, a "Bloom fan." I don't see or judge players as machines. I've played the great game of baseball for many years and wish I still could. I watch just about every play of every Sox game, and really enjoy watching some players way more than others, and it has nothing to do with metrics. JBJ was my fave for a while. I tend to enjoy watching great D, as that was about the only thing I was good at in baseball- that and BBs and baserunning. My first favorite player was Tommy Harper, when he played in Milwaukee- where I liked in the late 60's. I happen to like numbers, and I don't understand why people think fans who like numbers can't enjoy the game, like they do.
  4. No. I said that in response to you saying we should trade Duran, because he has more years of control. One could ask why you hate Duran.
  5. Look under the bus.
  6. You guys have worse logic than my middle school students. I wanted us to offer Betts $400M/14, and I'd like to still see him in a Sox uniform. Just because I don't think that trade was Bloom's choice doesn't make me his "fan." I rooted for him to do well, unlike some here. Beni is a shell of his old self. Bogey has not produced well in 3 years. JD had a one year resurgence, but has missed some time. JT was better. Vaz? Really? You crack me up!
  7. Here is the foundation Bloom left. I'm listing DD players and prospects, too, because Bloom resisted trading any of them. ML or ML Ready C: Wong, McGuire (Scott) 1B: Casas (Dalbec) 2B: Urias, Reyes (EValdez) SS: Story (DHam) 3B: Devers (Meirdroth) LF: Duran, Refsnyder (Rosier) CF: Rafaela, Abreu RF: Verdugo DH: Yoshida SP: Bello, Sale, Houck, Crawford, Pivetta (Murphy, Mata, Walter, Drohan, Gambrell, Hagenman) RP: Jansen, Martin, Whitlock, Schreiber, Winckowski, Bernardino, Joely (Kelly, Robertson, Mills, Guerrero, Jacquez, Weiss, Llovera, RFern) Late '24 to late '25 C: Teal, Hickey (DH) 1B: Kavadas (DH), Jordan 2B: Yorke SS: Mayer 3B: Bonaci, Lugo OF: Anthony, K Campbell, Sikes, B Gonzalez, Ferguson SP: Wikelman, Dobbins, I Coffey, Bastardo, Song, Penrod, Sena RP: Liu, Hoppe, Troye, Denlinger, Broadway, Webb, BBell 2026> C: Joh Garcia, B Brannon, Lira 1B: Sierra 2B: Ravelo, Alcantara, Arias SS: Cespedes, Romero, Zanetello, Riemer 3B: A Anderson, C Coffey, Paulino OF: M Bleis, A Castro, Yuten, Ascencio SP: Perales, Monegro, E R-C, Rogers, Duffy, Paez RP: Cepeda, Sena, JRam, JEncarn, L de la Rosa It remains to be seen how well these guys work out. I happen to think it is a significant improvement over the foundation of 2020, but so much is on paper and speculative. Many of Bloom's initial draft picks we HS players, but he did end up getting some impactful prospects, who graduated under him or will soon via trades and Rule 5, most notably Whitlock, Wink, Wong, Abreu, EValdez, Bernardino & Z Kelly. I'm not happy or sad about Bloom's firing. I kinda feel bad they sorta made him out to be the fall guy, when I don't really think this was all his plan and chosen winter spending budgets. Lord knows, he made some doozie mistakes, and too many significant ones, too. His record on low budget pitching additions was likely his downfall. I do think others were right to point out his inability to pull the trigger on near miss trades and signings was a major fault, as well. I wish him luck, elsewhere, as long as it is not a team in our backyard.
  8. Teel, Mayer, Anthony and Wikelman are projected at Portland to start the 2024 season. I wish I still lived in Portland.
  9. The swinging pendulum. Even Theo admitted he got away from the balanced approach, too much, but he was nowhere near like any of the 3 that followed.
  10. We've lost too many players for just comp picks. I would not mind seeing us extend Dugo and keep him around, but trading him for a helpful piece might work, too. No hate.
  11. I hope the next GM embraces a balanced approach and not one end of the spectrum, like we have seemed to hire after Theo left. I'm all for a few prospect trades sprinkled into the resume. I'm all for more success with large and moderate FA signings. I'm all for a few gems in the roughs found here and there. I'm all for JH & Co. loosening up the pursestrings, this winter and beyond. I hope this isn't some lame attempt to shift blame and then not change the philosophy.
  12. There are a few guys, I just don't read anymore, even if the headline is flashy. Actually, especially if the headline is flashy.
  13. It would feel better going into 2024 with Whitlock looking like he has regained his groove. Let's hope he never starts another game for us, unless as an opener. Keep him where he has been a success.
  14. He must be on a roll: cause he's buttah!
  15. Story was just waiting for Bloom to get canned to explode.
  16. He sure didn't seem to care about the draft slot drop for going over the tax line, last year.
  17. Couldn't possibly have been you, Red, Elk and other saints on this site.
  18. Duran is not a good defensive CF'er, but it might be better than Abreu in RF and Duran in LF (Raf in CF.)
  19. Mental gymnastics, again.
  20. More pure gibberish.
  21. At least most of my attention is on the Sox and not other posters. Your obsession with posters is a bit creepy.
  22. So, is this year 1 or 5 for the next guy?
  23. I'd have traded Sale with low prospects for a bag of used baseballs. The salary dump would have been worth it, assuming we'd spend it in 2024.
