  1. But you wrote this... The rapid decline for pitchers and hitters begins at age 30
  2. 2023+2024 to 2025 OBP: .275> .295 (+7%) OPS+ 84> 95 (+13%) BB%: 2.9> 4.8% (+66%) K%: 27.1>19.9% (27% better) Hard Hit%: 24.2>30.4% (+26%)
  3. I get the need to improve the offense and a heads up to the cliche police... You don't throw baby Ceddanne out with the bath water just so our line-up looks better.
  4. Okay, maybe not that "clear," but... Best seasons: ERA+ 2025 (123 to 2023 107) FIP 2025 (ties with 2024 at 4.19) WHIP 2025 (1.24 beats 2024 1.36) My opinion remains that 2025 was Bello's best season.
  5. So, basically 14 pitchers that have been in the Sox system from the 2023 through today. (Houck will be on the IL, so he barely counts.)
  6. We may be reading too much into Bello's finish to 2025. He clearly had his best season. Note: FIP at the end of each month: 6.41 April 5.11 May 4.47 June 4.38 July 4.10 August (It was 4.33 mid AUG and 4.22 on 8/26) 4.19 September
  7. 2025 OPS by age: 25 .709 (18453 PAs) 26 .695 (18586 PAs) 27 ,730 (20314 PAs) 28 .711 (18267 PAs) 29 .686 (10480 PAs- big drop in PAs) 30 .730 (18464) 31 .756 (10401) 32 .742 (11649) 33 .768 (7367 is a big drop in PAs) 34 .704 (6233) 35 .756 (4140- only the good survive?) 36 .665 (1199- hardly any survived) 37 .683 (2361) 2016-2025 season totals range 20-23: .700-.748 24-27: .701-.738 28-31: .710-.744 32-25: .701-.742
  8. Looking at the end of season rosters from 2023, it is rather stunning the amount of overhaul our pitching has underwent. Gone from the 2023 EOY Rosters: MLB: Sale, Pivetta, Paxton, Jansen, Martin, Wink, Schreiber, Bernardino, Murphy, Joely, N Robertson, Llovera AAA: Walter, Barraclough, Van Belle, Gambrell, R Gomez (Drohan- left & returned) Ort, Mata, Weiss, Jacquez, Garza, Gillaspie, Politi, Guerrero, Booser, German and 5 others AA: Dobbins, Wikelman, Sharp, Bastardo, Hoppe, Troye, Zeferjahn, Miller, Cellucci, Olds, Broadway, Denlinger & 3 others A+: Perales, Penrod, Cepeda and 11 others A-: out of 20 pitchers, I see only Mullins, Dean& Early The pitchers still here: Whitlock, Bello, Crawford, Houck, Kelly Uberstine, Drohan, Mullins, Liu, I Coffey, Monegro, Rogers, Dean, Song, Sena, Early, Valera
  9. I'm not for trading Ceddanne. After Anthony, he's #3 on my OF keeper list. I was just talking on a way we could become a top 10 offense.
  10. If we add Paredes, we do get better on O, whether we call him tier 1 or tier 2. It also pushes DHam/Romy to the bench, which helps there. I'm not sure how we fit Paredes and ESuarez into the line-up, unless we trade an OF'er and bench/demote/trade/DFA Masa. I'm not even sure Suarez is an upgrade on O over Duran or Abreu, except for raw power. If we trade Rafaela and add Paredes & Suarez, our offense would be top 10ish.
  11. I don't either. If he rakes in ST'ing and is playing 2B, maybe. If he's playing LF in ST'ing: 0% he starts at 2B. No additions, I'll guess... 3B: Mayer 2B: Romy/DHam
  12. My point is, we have bigger worries than our 6th string DH.
  13. I think Paredes gets us very close to top contender status. At worst, we'd be top of tier 2. Fangraphs has us 7th (4th in the AL.) We are 0.3 from 8th (PHI) and0.8 from 6th (SEA) That sounds about right. Adding Paredes would jump us up to about #5 (ATL 45.4, as we are at 44.2, now.) One can argue if top 5 is a top contender or not. I'd say it's borderline as the LAD< NYY, NYM and TOR look significantly better, although I have my doubts about the NYY being over-rated.
  14. DH depth chart before we trade an OF'er: 1. Duran w other OF'ers on rest days 2. Masa 3. Casas (may start season on IL- maybe even 60 day.) 4. Campbell 5. Romy .... 10. DHam
  15. Then, other teams should have deductions, too.
  16. No, not at all. You keep saying "It didn't happen" as evidence that my suggestion was wrong. And yes, suggestions can be wrong, too, and many of mine have been wrong. (See how easy it is to admit being wrong?)
  17. Dear Mr. Strawman, I do look at it from his POV, too. I have never said it was even more than 50% his fault. It might not even be 33% his fault, and since we don't know all the facts, I'll just say several people were to blame, including Devers.
  18. The Oz would always be welcomed by me, even at 71.
  19. Me 2. Word is that HOU wants an OF'er. A lot of talk about Abreu, but I think they'd take any of ours. If we could get a lefty RP'er and or Janek for one, I'd do it.
  20. The guy is a hitter. I'm not worries about his hit tool.
