I knew I was missing some names. I'm not sure how much turnover the average MLB team has in these top jobs, but it doesn't seem like a lot to me, once you get above the GM/HOBO job title. Even that was not such a big deal until Cherrington & DD left. Now, Bloom after 4 years has made it look like chaos, to some.

Why has a 17th pick in a draft 4 years ago become your obsession? I thought people clinging to the Trey Ball selection mistake went too far, and he was the 7th pick.

There are quite a few of people in our front office that have been around a very long time: Henry and Werner '02 Kennedy '02 O'Halloran '02 Romero '06 I'm sure there are more down the line that have been around for over 15 years. It seems the GM/HOBO job is the one most changed. Port/Theo 10 Cherrington/Hoyer 4 DD (Hazen) 4 Bloom/OHalloran 4 That and team manager. Cora 5 year (Roenicke 1) Farrell 5 Valentine 1 Francona 8 Little 2 I know I must be missing someone, but other than Lucchino, what other big guy, other than GM/HOBOs have been let go?

This should really be on the prospects thread, but ultimately, it is related to the 2024 roster and years to come, as well. Much of Bloom's work building the farm is hard to grade out, especially since he drafted so many HS players, and it can take some player 4-6 years to start showing they belong in MLB (or longer, even, for some.) It looks like he did a pretty good overall job, despite some picks and signees that don't look like the will amount to much. The vast majority of draft picks, especially those outside the top 10 or 15 never sniff MLB. It should not be a shock to anyone that 4 picks might not ever make the bigs. At the start ot 2023, it looked like Drohan might end up being the prize of the 2020 draft. Jordan has looked good, at times, too. Yorke still has promise and is ranked 6th on SP's. Granted, there is a big drop off from our top 5 to the following group, but no way can we know for sure he will be a bust. (Wu-Yelland looks to be write-off.) 17th is the lower part of the 1st round. Call it middle, if you wish. It looks like we probably did not do very well. So what? Every GM has whole drtafts that amount to squat, and they had way more than 4 rounds- always.

4 rounds, too, at that. We had the 17th pick, which is pretty much always a stab in the dark, anyway.

The pen bites DD in the ass, again.

You can't hit on every draft, and the 2020 one was just 4 rounds. Yorke seems to have the best shot out of him, Drohan and Jordan. Since it was Bloom's first draft, and the long wait for good prospects to join the team and mature into fine players was ongoing, that draft just seemed to prolong the wait. The, on top of all this, we drafted mostly HS players, highly, after 2020. Anyway, I hope the day comes you will admit you were wrong, but it looks like you will most likely be right.

Can we get an equal or better closer for $16M? If yes, then sure. If not, try explaining to fans, it's not a punt. Now, if we sign Duvall, Yamamoto and Nola, while trading Jansen, then there won't be all that much bitching about Jansen.

There are a lot of factors, including how good the offenses are of the teams they faced.

If the plan is for 2025, yes, but I think they are worried about letting fans know they are punting, again. I could see not bringing Urias back and trading Dugo to free up some more cash, but $59M should be enough to get a #1/2SP, a 3SP and Duvall. Trade some prospects for a #2, and....

It can't be totally blamed on the budget, because some budgets had enough room for spending more on pitching and less on other areas. There seemingly was not $10M limit on a SP'er, since we did offer a QO to Nate, a large contract to Nate (that was later pulled back) and a larger than $10M deal for Eflin. Maybe there was more we don't know about. I doubt upper brass would have allowed a huge deal for anyone (larger than Story), and maybe more so for a SP'er. Bloom chose to spend on Yoshida and Story and the pen since March 2022. That's on him.

The home team should offer to play all of the series away.

If we spend $59M on 2 SP'ers and Duvall, I'm not so sure we have to wait for 2 years, especially if we trade for another top SP'er.

I think that happens more often than not, across all major sports teams.

Nobody has ever come close to saying this about nobody else could have done better. Everyone is fine with Bloom's firing. That would not be the case, if people felt nobody could do better. More strawmen.

I think firing people is often used this way.

and just because Eflin made some comments about wanting to play closer to home, it does NOT mean he he wouldn't sign with BOS for more money. Players always say nice things about the city they just signed to play in.

Oh, I wonder along with everyone else. I just don't think it's "unreasonable" for a rich guy to do what it takes to get even more rich, instead of paying his employees more. The "reasons" are obvious and commonplace, whether we agree with them or not.
