    24 starts. start 1 is thrown out because it was game 1 of the season. that leaves 23 starts. LL (team Lost in Price start coming off a Loss in the previous game) 7 LW (team Won in Price start coming off a Loss in the previous game) 3 WW (team Won in Price start coming off a Win in the previous game) 7 WL (team Lost in Price start coming off a Win in the previous game) 6 definitely not a "Stopper". unless you mean Winning streak Stopper.

    agreed. i just wasnt expecting to be panicking year 1. but as you have pointed out, he has had some much better starts in spurts lately so hopefully he becomes who we all expected him to be....

    Hey IL. what you (and Eck) say makes sense. but let me ask you this. if you are the GM....do you give a SP $217MM / 7 years if year 1 of that contract is a "transition year" in the hopes the former fireballer can become a successful pitcher?

    no chance he gets in the HoF, right? 2 of the greatest players that we have seen play (bond, arod) will never sniff the hall..... juice. canseco spoke the truth. as much as he was vilified. he was preaching.

    your thinking is correct. if he stinks it up he will cash boston checks for the next 6.5 years. i cant speak for everyone but if he turns it around and pitches like an ace the next 3 seasons and we win it all in one (or more) of them i am happy with him opting out. my thinking would be the backend of that contract is going to be a disaster as he enters his mid 30's and beyond.

    i do wonder if DD expected Price to pitch well enough at the front end of this contract that Price would "opt out" at the 3 year mark.

    not a chance Arod walks away from 1 penny of that contract. it's who he is. i bet he even negotiated more for the cash he is leaving on the table for not reaching the $5MM bonus marks of 700, 715, 756, 763 (although he would never have reached the last 2, the first 2 were certainly within reach).

    just finished watching the game. disappointing. btw - National League rules stink. enough with having pitchers try and bat. it's ridiculous.
