we had a pretty good record with him on the team. the pending 2019 contract cost him his job. not anything he did in the dugout. he played every position the Red Sox ever asked him to play without complaining once. he put in extra work on defense trying to learn each new position we asked him to play. his offense slumped + the contract situation were his death knell. DD had to do it. Hanley understood it that is why you wont find a quote from him anywhere taking a shot at the Red Sox even after they slit his throat. not even a "it's not me, it's them". the fact that he choose not to spend 4 months playing for the devil rays for $0 doesnt make him a bad person or someone that hates baseball. the fact that he never once bad mouthed the Red Sox front office, players, coaches, fans kind of tells me that he is a good person. i dont think you need to be liberal or conservative to see that.....but maybe you do???
