  1. Yeah, they also said a batter can't cause a balk
  2. f***ing bs call. Glad Farrell got as mad I was. I even posted in the wrong thread I was so irate.
  3. YEAH FARRELL!!!! That's what I want to see Some f***ing fire fcs!!! That call was ********
  4. I would describe these moves as "the least you could do" type of moves. They 'aight. I suggested Fister a couple winters ago right off his down year and he did fine as Houston's #5. I'm willing to bet Peralta is still better defensively than Panda at this point, and about the same or worse with the bat. These are fine depth moves that are worth a gander. For now.
  5. Some names to watch next season & for the 2018 draft: Mohamed Bamba, C, Texas, DeAndre Ayton, C, Arizona, and if there's a potential Power Forward among Michael Porter Jr., F, Missouri, Robert Williams, F, Texas A&M, Jaren Jackson Jr., F, Michigan State, Kevin Knox, F, Kentucky. The '18 draft might not be as deep a draft, but it doesn't need to be if the Celts (may) have two very high picks.
  6. just caught up on what the Celtics did on draft day, tradng down, getting Tatum and getting another #1 pick in either '18 ( if that pick is between #2-#5) or '19. They still have Nets' '18 #1 pick and I've herd there might be some big men to take in next year's draft. What's the overall feelings on this strategy here on talksox? I'll make it known, I trust Ainge a lot and if he thinks there's not much difference between Fultz, Ball, Tatum, Jackson, etc. and they got who they were going to pick anyway at #1 or #3 and got another future #1 pick down the road, I'm fine with it.
  7. This is true. I wouldn't charge him anything for that. MLB has ppl to keep track of that though, i would think. If they have people to figure out a non-typical Save (tying run reaches the on-deck circle), they could figure this out.
  8. Or atleast add 1/2 a run to the Starter (or previous pitcher) ERA and the other 1/2 to the Reliever's ERA who actually surrendered the run. Do this for every run given up.
  9. yeah, I don't love it but we should do something come deadline if Devers really isn't an option. Someone mentioned Josh Harrison, who I personally think would be a great fit (Career UZR:3B 7.8 ,2B 2.3; I wouldn't expect much in the HR dept., however career .285/.322/.415/.737 and decent SB threat). Signed thru 2018, 4 yrs/$27.3M (15-18) & 19-20 team option, '17: $7,750,000, '18: $10,250,000, '19: $10.5M Team Option, '19: $1M Buyout, '20: $11.5M Team Option, '20 $500k Buyout. The Pirates would have to be in Sell-Mode, of course. His OF defense is horrendous, but sticking him in LF for starter rest days next season or beyond wouldn't be too bad as long as it's nothing long term (Young is a FA end of season). He can play 2B if Pedey is hurt and we could call up Devers for 3B when applicable. These are all future scenarios due to his versatility, mind you. He'd be nice to have this season at 3B, but I know it's a long shot/pipe dream and that's even before we get to what we'd have to give up in a trade for him.
  10. umm... yes. lol Great point.
  11. Yup, I was half hoping he'd get a ball to make a play on. My second hope was a bit more sane though.
  12. One thing I'm noticing about this Red Sox team is that they've kept their losing streak to a minimum. A streak by definition is 3 games or more and they've only had one 3-game losing streak. Yanks are on a 6 game skid, and the O's had a 7 game skid some time ago. Jays had a horrible start and their longest losing streak is 7. TB's longest is 4 games, but has had four separate, additional 3-game losing streaks. Sox are pretty close to their Pythagorean W-L record (37-32, 322 R, 293 RA).
  13. Ok, there is such a thread buried deep on here. I'll have to catchup on it.
  14. Getting out of shape is easy to do and so is tweaking your back. I nearly broke my ankle a while back ( about 2 months before Swihart nearly broke his in LF if I remember correctly) from a freak fall doing yard work. I wasn't all that mobile after that, but I've been hitting the gym 3 days a weeks on the regular since late January. Mostly lifting for that time ( I've never been great on the bench press, but i've been improving lately), mixing in a little cardio on the elliptical. I've been adding cardio more and more though as of late. Cardio is getting easier than ever before for me, due to a lot of exceptional 'Leg Days' over the past half year I must say. I gained a lot of muscle weight, but now I'm looking to drop the bad weight without losing too much muscle. It's ... tricky. Dropping 11 lbs a month, that's pretty impressive Moon! Nice job. I don't know if it already exists, but I was thinking of starting a fitness/nutrition (inc. supplements) thread on here. I'm not sure if anyone else would be interested in that though. Any poster interested in that kind of thread, please say so.
  15. No, but he IS a better fielder than both Nunez and Plouffe. He's a better fit with the bat as well, sense we're all clamoring for more HRs. I hate his batting average too. Maybe we can buy low because of that fact and he does a little better within our lineup? That's what we'd have to hope for. I agree, I'd give Devers a look first. If we don't need to get a 3Bman, we could sure-up our pitching instead. We might be able to make one ( I doubt two) impact move(s) at the deadline, so we better make it count.
  16. The Yankees are pretty young and I must admit look very promising. But the thing I keep going back to is that, even if they're not necessarily over-performing, they're so young it might be very hard for them to sustain that level of play all season... to the very end. Boston's younger players have been through more and are little more battle-tested. And that's before you get to the parity of the AL East as a whole. For example, a good 2 week stretch from last place Toronto and they might climb their way to 3rd. Baltimore faded, as I expected they would, but they were pretty hot for the first 2 months. The Sox have been holding their own thus far and we've come to expect them to be a very good 2nd Half team in recent years. And I'd rather be a very good 2nd half team than a very good 1st half team.
  17. So, Nunez's defense is somewhere between Poor and Awful, and Plouffe was literally DFA'd before being traded. Frazier is looking better and better at this point. lol
  18. I think I may like your targeting of Bruce, but I'm not sure if Nunez would be the right fit. I love some aspects of Nunez's game, he a nice SB threat (17 thus far), batting .300, but I'm not sold on his defense and if we're looking for more HR's, Nunez is not our man. Mastrodonato's chat excerpt is interesting. Moon's been calling for Sandoval playing 1B since I can remember. I never liked his height to play 1B (or his lack of power but I'm willing to set that aside to get something out of him), but I wouldn't mind seeing Pablo play both corners here and there, on and off, while we give Devers a shot and give Moreland a rest when needed. Having Pablo only as an option if the matchup is right. We need to squeeze the most out of what we have. It's not perfect by any means.
  19. he been aight. Let's pumps the brakes on masterful tho. Nothing about Farrell has been masterful.
  20. Perhaps you re right. Pedey just got a pitch i the same locale and it was called a ball
  21. Big catch by Rutledge
  22. I think Pom needs to shave his head... get some tats. He needs to look more intimidating out there. He looks like a little kid. WTF?! Kelly doesn't get that ?
  23. s that considered indifference?
