  1. I know you were, and I agree he blundered in the 10th with Perez. But he is still one terrific manager.
  2. Pen is fine now that Barnes isn't closing. Robles stunk last Wednesday in the 10th 3 days ago, but the rest of the bullpen was great in that game. They were fine Thursday, yesterday, and today as well--except for Perez, who had no business being sent out in the 10th with a save opportunity. Whitlock should have pitched the 10th. Richards has blossomed in the bullpen. He's now pitched in 6 games and 10.1 innings in relief and given up 1 run. Last night and today he pitched a clean 8th inning with the game on the line. Today it was the final out in the 8th, also with the game on the line. Barnes is likely to come back, possibly even to close.
  3. Normally, usually, that's true. He did make a lot of good moves today, including putting JDM back in the 3 slot, which none of us would have wanted him to do. He sent Eovaldi out for the 6th, and pulled him at just the right moment. He used 7 relievers and all but one of them did the job. But sending Perez out for the 10th was and is indefensible.
  4. Note to Cora. Before this game Perez had pitched in 8 games this month as a reliever, and his ERA for the month is 9. Bringing him in for a save opportunity was not smart.
  5. Hell, yes. And absolutely no way.
  6. OK, that's it. Best one liner of the game.
  7. Definitely. Whitlock was rested and normally goes 2 innings. Perez stunk as a starter and still stinks.
  8. Interesting. Timing is everything, and the Sox picked up AGon too late and JDM just soon enough.
  9. No question the players get all the credit. But here's a shout out for Cora, who kept Eovaldi out there just long enough, who kept JDM in the 3d slot, who used his bullpen brilliantly, who last night went with a semi-scratch lineup that actually won the game, finally, who has now used none other than Richards in the 8th inning of two straight close games, etc. On the other hand, pulling Whitlock and giving the ball to Perez, who has not proven himself in the bullpen, was and is just dumb.
  10. This is the first game in a decade in which I left the sound on with TV announcers. I dislike all of them. But I was late starting housecleaning, so have been cleaning, listening, checking in, and even watching now and then I missed the first 4 runs of the game.
  11. You don't know jack. If Cora had any sense he would have taken JDM to the woodshed and then benched him for a week.
  12. What do you expect from guys who attack the virtue and enormous added value of roboumps? I myself am hoping to see the day when we can finally get roboplayers. With all those computer programs and stats, we are close to having robomanagers.
  13. Is it worth noting that the Guardians tried to bunt with two consecutive batters after a leadoff single and that it ended up costing them?
  14. Love the spelling. Also agree.
  15. You sound exactly how I think. Indeed, I am recently on record as saying JDM needs to be dropped down in the batting order--like 10th or 11th--because he has lost it. moonslav has disagreed with me, which shows how much he knows.
  16. Boy, do I like the way Schwarber (note spelling) swings that bat.
  17. Some credit to the Cleveland pitchers. Also, the Sox have had some hard hit balls caught.
  18. For the record, he grounded out on a 100 mph cutter.
  19. Arauz was the one who struck out.
  20. You sure can call them.
  21. Sox have hit a bunch hard hit balls for outs.
  22. Frankly, right now I'd trust Richards before anyone else not named Whitlock. He has been unreal as a reliever. This is the straight game in which Cora has used him in the 8th inning with the score tied or with a 1 run lead. So don't believe me--just trust Cora.
