    We're knocking Price today, but really aside from Sale no one has been good recently. Color me concerned.

    I would be happy with any of the three, but Johnson has been better as a starter than a reliever thus far.

    I would prefer the Sox go with who they think is most promising and give him 3 starts.

    I haven't heard a peep about Pedroia's status. I think no news is bad news.

    I hope Johnson moves into the rotation during Wright's absence. I won't complain if Velazquez or Beeks get a shot though.

    I still can’t believe we held onto Buchholz that year instead of keeping Rich Hill.

    I actually cringe at the thought of losing Jalen Beeks for a short-term rental like Machado. Yes his MLB debut wasn't very good; I think he was over-throwing and nervous. But I think he's going to be a quality pitcher in the years to come.

    Gosh it makes me so nervous to think about who they'd have to give up. Swihart for Machado I'd do :)

    As I recall Xander's first full year had similar struggles.

    Me neither. The current 5 are more than enough to handle the postseason. And I'm still high on the other 3 (Johnson, Velazquez, Beeks). Sometimes people have a great season, like Pomeranz did last year, but can never follow it up again.

    So? We need an upgrade for 2B from Nunez.

    With Wright now in the rotation and Pomeranz out, the rotation has been excellent.

    He seems to be coming alive offensively. I'm happy at this point to grind out the season with him. I'd still like to pick up Lowrie to play 2B.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the O's demand that whoever trades for Machado has to take Adam Jones as well. Jones is a good player, but not worth his 17 million salary.

    Unfortunately if we sign Machado to a long-term deal, it may restrict us from keeping Sale, Betts, Benitendi, etc. in the future too. Can't have it all. If we trade for Machado, I hope we don't include Devers.

    That was my thought. Machado is a short-term rental. Velazquez could be a bona-fide major league starter, with many years of team control.

    I don't know about the rest of you, but the Yankees success is unnerving. I want the Sox to run away with the division! A one-game wildcard is just too dicey. I keep hoping that the fact that the Sox have played 6 more games than the Yankees will start to catch up with the Yankees in the form of double-headers and long stretches without a day off, but I guess it's still too soon.

    I wonder what the Orioles would ask for Machado. Velazquez would probably be the centerpiece.

    Well Price broke the mold last night with a dominant 7 inning 1 run performance. Way to go David!
