  1. Out starters Era the last two years in the playoffs is 11 something...
  2. ahahah........ thanks for correcting me...
  3. Time to beat Houston.......... and ruin the good times, for the bad people.....
  4. I really dug watching him play first last year after that crap left field experiment. Hanley was engaged, and I think really liked being out there. Heck, after a good play he was about the most animated player in the infield. I think we are seeing the end of a career of a star........
  5. Before I get labelled as a Hanley hater I have to say I just really like the guy. His showing at first last year stuck with me, I'm a huge fan of the guy. But he killed us this year. He was supposed to be the pop we needed. I think when healthy is a pure hitter when on. And he wasn't. Hanley is a huge problem....... you can't dump him, you have to play him.............. he needs to get his stuff together for next year. He's dead weight in a position that we should have pretty much the highest offensive production.
  6. We aren't firing anyone. We don't need a new approach for our hitters because that is what they are. We don't need to win games with homeruns instead of driving in runs. The team won the ALE so it wasn't poorly constructed. We won many games off off of other teams bullpens, and taking pitches made that happen. What we need is one damn starter to show up in the playoffs a couple of games. There is no way to manage our Ace who fades months before the playoffs.........
  7. If Price wasn't hurt this year I think what you said would have been 89 percent true. But playoffs are playoffs. I like the "Winter is Coming" John Snow thing you got going there.....
  8. Uggg....... I was just going to ask how it knows high leverage spots. And then figured it calculates outs and if a person is on base and how many are on base and what base to detirmine that. Is that how high leveraged is calculated on that site? I wonder what the breakdown is between high, medium and low leverage....
  9. We laughed, we cried, we ended up ALE champs. I think that is pretty dang good. I'd like to see us competative this up coming series though. Another three game and out will really be a let down, but not on the season as a whole. This season has been strange for sure. The lack of run support made parts of it dull, but really stretches of any season can be pretty dull...... We should get a thread going for peoples high points of the year. Vasquez and Fister come to my mind off the bat....... Sale for sure......I dig Lin and Marrero a bit too. There are too many to name.....
  10. How and where did you get the leverage stats?
  11. I faced a mid nineties throwing guy that made it to AAA then flunked out cause he was a drunk and a gambler. He was a friend of mine. Pretty much what I remember was he threw three fastballs inside about 90 plus mph. He was a prick and would have reach back and gave me, his friend, his best heat. He's a lefty, I'm a righty, he could locate. I thought they were coming at me and semi flinched out of the way on each pitch, and each pitch was a strike. What I remember best was the sound of the whiz of the ball coming in............... I also caught about an hour of batting practive with an AAA guy throwing who could hit 90. I wasn't a catcher, but I could catch. And the coaches were punishing me for not going to practive lately, so it was mid day about as hot as you can get in the north east and I get catching duty for a guy throwing what I thought was ungodly junk and heat. It was freaking torture........ but I loved catching him in a way............ my hand was sore as heck after the session................ And what I remember most is the sound of the whiz of the ball coming in......... whiiiiiizzzzz........ CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the sound....
  12. That's really interesting when you put it that way. It makes me think of military piloting school. Some fail out. And they are measuring that stuff probably to he highest degree possible. Some don't cut it.
  13. Back when the Portland Sea Dogs weren't in downtown Portland in the stadium where pitchers warmed up you could stand right behind the catcher. I got to see an AA guys knuckleball for a while. It was pretty sick. I wonder who that pitcher was.
  14. Been meaning to ask all of you this. Xander is pretty strange, it seems he has a second half swoon. But this year most of that seemed to me because he was hurt. I think he slumped a but just before he got hurt, and then just couldn't hit anything after he was hurt until a couple weeks ago. What's your take on what happened there?
  15. Abad better make the playoff roster, or my deam of him striking out Judge on an eephas pitch to win the AL Championship will never come to fruition...
  16. Beat these pigs........ I like the sound of 94 wins better than 93
  17. Farrell did keep the train on the tracks this year which I think is his primary job. Just don't let the team explode. If you really think about all the stuff he has to deal with everyday, it is probably more impressive than people would think. He's dealing with a staff of players who all have their issues, coaches, upper managment, the fans, broadcasters. He's analyzing what has occured and how to make things better and also preparing for the future. Keeping the train on the tracks may sound easier than it really is. And not only that, if you just accomplish that, you get an average rating.
  18. One thing that really striked me is how many come from behind games and extra inning games we won. A lot has of credit has to be given to the bullpen on that one, but for some reason I think there is a sliver of managerial success in all those wins.
  19. Ahaha..... WTF..
  20. Go Velazquez............ I'd like to see him have a good outing to end it. He looked like garbage out of he gate this year....... but came through big for us a few times........... I hope he does well..
  21. What happened? I had the radio going......
  22. Since when?
