  1. Steven Wright’s sore knee is not getting better. “Not having great days — he’s been throwing and all that but he’s still sore, we have to see what we’re going to do next week,” said Cora. “It’s taking longer than expected. … Left-hander Drew Pomeranz will remain with Pawtucket after another uninspiring appearance on Friday. “We want him to go deeper in the games,” said Cora. “He’ll pitch again on Wednesday. The reports, he was OK. “Velocity is not up. It’s been 89, 90, I think. Inconsistent with the breaking stuff. I read something (Friday) about, 3-0 count somebody swung and hit a home run. Well, they swing at 3-0 counts here, too.” Cora on ERod “It looks bad, but he’s moving it around, which is encouraging,” manager Alex Cora said. “We have to go through the tests and all that and see what happens.”
  2. I've always thought this was an interesting article. This is Curt Shillings thought on most dominate seasons by a pitcher. https://38pitches.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/pitchers-dominance-factor/
  3. Woooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Best pitch count ERod had all year also. He was cruising
  5. I'm guessing they had to get the scores in earlier than the game ends to get the paper printed in time. Talk about a cliff hanger if it was a tight game against a rival. I guess you'd have to wait till the next day to see who won two days before?
  6. I'm not young at mid 40, some of the people here have decades on me. If you really think about it, the years of baseball knowledge on this board is ASTOUNDING. Collectively other than a message board, there's almost no way you could get a bunch of people together that have so many years collectively who have the love of all things baseball.
  7. What a spooky game thread. And now, the Ghost of Natick will return. He will return on all Friday the 13ths to come and haunt Talksox until all members active and inactive post the words "Be Best" that day. When it has been done, his Ghost will be returned to its slumber till the next unholy day. Or until Swihart hits a Grand Salami, it'll probably show up that day too. muhahahaha muhahahaahahahah....
  8. Yea. I know, it was never said the players disliked him, and it shocked me. And it doesn't change a thing in my mind. Any pitcher who is already getting shelled who shows up another player who committed an error is a dick.
  9. It was him yelling and giving bad looks to his fellow teammates when they did something wrong that I just couldn't stand. And that's the only thing that made me despise him. I can't stomach that.
  10. That's exactly how I feel. In fact, the worse a player is doing, the more I wan't them to succeed. JBJ's cool too cause he has had rough patches, and doesn't seem to be a jackass about it. I like his style. Just skeptical about the bat. The only player I've ever disliked almost to the point of hoping he'd fail was Lackey, but even then when he was suited up I had to home he'd do well.
  11. What's kind of cool about Cora is that he was working for a team that had to analize how to beat the Sox the last couple of years. He knew some of the Sox players weak points and strengths. He had been studying those players from another angle than an internal angle for a good time, and now can use that info to make the players better.
  12. Almost posted this a few weeks ago. But if Moreland makes it, I'd be a super happy man.
  13. Please tell me you got that from a Star Wars film. Cause I am just watching the last one right now. And that was a direct quote.
  14. DD is probably calling Fister about now. "Hey man, long time no see, the weathes great in Bostin, heard it was a bit hot in Texas now a days."
  15. I'd need to take a long cry shower just to feel clean if we aquired him. And then try not to gag while he raked the rest of the season, but would have like the winning. Lose lose situation, hope he goes to the NL and we never have to see him again.
  16. Why do you go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about Swihart?
  17. Like or dislike Vaz, even be neutral about Vaz. At this point, anything that rocks the boat is not good in my mind. Keep the good times rolling.
  18. Yeah. I was hoping for nothing stupid from him too. That pretty nails how you want to approach that. Is he hurt is my question.
  19. Same here.
  20. Pedal still on the metal. Gotta love it.
  21. Holy crap........ and there goes Thornburg.
  22. Holy crap. Thornburg again.
  23. Probably at best a coin flip. I wouldn't have argued with you.
