  1. There are also some who think he should be canned, so it's a little more than "head scratching". Farrell totally hosed the bullpen last week, but that doesn't mean he should be fired a month into the season. I'm fine giving him until July. Lovullo isn't going anywhere.
  2. Yeah, let's all go with an evaluation system that says "trade Pedroia".
  3. Can't argue with that...
  4. A winning combination as far as I'm concerned!
  5. You sound like my second grade teacher. God, she was a mean one.
  6. I think it says the players wanted to demonstrate to the new boss (DD) that they could play.
  7. Exactly.
  8. Yup, and while both are team sports, baseball is more individual against individual (pitcher/batter), until the ball is in play anyway. Football coaches have a much bigger impact on game planning and play execution than baseball managers. Other than the lineup, baserunning directions and pulling pitchers, managers pretty much just send them out there.
  9. Yup, Schilling was an employee and subject to the whims of ESPN. What I don't like is the hypocrisy that goes with ESPN's PR machine and their pandering to whatever social issues get's them the most "likes". Too bad job performance doesn't seem to factor into it at all. If it did, Ray Lewis wouldn't have a job.
  10. Price got into a nice groove after a shaky start. Joe West certainly didn't hurt him with a few gifts.
  11. ESPN sucks Curt Schilling gets fired but scumbags like Chris Carter and Ray Lewis are still collecting paychecks.
  12. Agree. I don't think any GM is going to be fooled into thinking Swihart is a plus defensive catcher because he can hit a little. If he takes this opotunity to work on his catching, to make up for what he missed last year, he could be even more valuable.
  13. Hey Slasher, welcome. Just above the thread heading, click on Forum Actions>Edit Profile. You'll see your profile and a list of "edits" on the left. Edit Signature is one of them.
  14. Yup, that's who I stole, I mean got it from. Even with Smith still out, burning through the bullpen by wed was really stipid. I'll be amazed if he's still managing this team by July.
  15. If Farrell was smart with the bullpen, and judging from this past week, he doesn't have a clue, They could have two set of 8th-9th inning guys in Smith, Kimbrel, Taz and Koji. There's no excuse for not having two of those four guys available on any given night.
  16. Exactly. Hanley was off to a hot start, but has cooled off some. I don't expect it to last.
  17. Good question. Is he talking Ervin or Danny?
  18. The Sox have to exhaust every avenue available to get Sandoval back on the field, before they trade away good players, just to get rid of him. I certainly wouldn't do it to get a Santana-type of pitcher. We've got plenty of those.
  19. True. I'll be suprised if he's in the set up role for a full year. Smith will take over at some point.
  20. Sorry, only certain members are allowed to be flip. Try working on being more juvenile (and easier to understand) and you'll probably get a pass.
  21. Yup, after not having Vazquez for over a year, it's easy to forget just how good he is. And if he's figured out how to hit a little, so much the better. Hopefully, he doesn't have holes in his swing large enough for opposing pitchers to figure him out.
  22. Exactly. Jack was right about one thing, the only problem with Swihart is that Vazquez is much better, defensively. I'm not sure how that hurts his trade value. With regular playing time and less pressure, he can work on his defensive game. A good hitting, decent fielding catcher always has value.
  23. Yup, if Vazquez is ready, he should be up in Boston. He's a much better catcher. Swihart should be back in Pawtuckett until there's a trade or injury.
