  1. Agree Max. I'd still rather have Castillo here than Young though. I just think he has more to offer in terms of D and speed. Heck....the guy is probably one of, if not THE fastest guy we have not names Moncada......never a bad thing to have speed coming in off the bench as a pinch runner late in the game......worked out pretty well in 2004....
  2. HAHA!!!!!!! Truth be told.......I was so busy trying to spell Mientkiewicz that I forgot one of the most important pieces!!!!! Thanks Nut!
  3. Agree Hugh. My bad for even letting myself get involved in the first place. Ignoring him as well.
  4. Certainly can't disagree and I see where you're going with that.....however, once Theo and Ben made some ballsy trades to get some REAL supporting staff then they were able to get over the hump. Doug Mientkiewicz, Foulk, Cabrera, Napoli, Victorino, Salty, Koji etc.......pretty huge moves that most said "Uhhhhhhh........what?" at the time but helped us win 3 championships.
  5. The issue is he came here to pretty much awkwardly stalk us and incite drama which is something that the mod should be able to clearly see when he reads through the posts. However I do agree with you 100% MVP and I will be dropping my part of the petty crap and move on from his drama.
  6. Can you back this claim up please? Last year according to most every stat Xander actually has the edge defensively and this year they are about equal.......... not sure where you get 'way better' from.........
  7. Meaning the Yankees......I forgot a comma. Awesome comeback.........
  8. Tick.....tock.......tick......tock.......tick.......tock........
  9. Pretty sure we could get 80 year old Sandy Koufax to sign for us and he'll still beat their pathetic lineup.......... That was the point of people saying to pitch Buch or Owens against them dufus. You can live in the past all you want though..........makes you look so much more ridiculous...
  10. ........and some of the best......
  11. Agree 100% Bill Belichick's mantra... "Do your job" needs to be sunk into Young's head. He was brought here to do one job: pound LHP. Right now he is making us want to pound our heads against a brick wall. I've said already on another thread that he should be given more time......however, the more I think about, he's a backup player......we're not talking a full time player here. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would LOVE a chance to do what Young's job is supposed to do waiting in the wings. I'm holding out hope for Castillo......I know......"what has he done so far King?!?!".....but I still think the talent is there. At this point I think it's in his head. He's still young, has speed, plays a decent LF.....and he probably can't do any worse than Young! Why not??
  12. tick....tock.....tick....tock....tick....tock......just a matter of time..... Hopefully they can ban IP addresses here.......
  13. Moving Swihart to the OF serves zero purpose for us. We have better prospects right behind him that can all play left in Betti, Devers and Moncada. Swihart was known as an above average hitting CATCHER.......his offensive numbers for a LF'r would be average at best. Taking him out from behind the plate will kill his trade value. Team would likely trade for an average fielding but above average hitting CATCHER than an average fielding AND hitting LF'r. Swihart should be trade bait.......like I've been saying for over a year now....... I hate to say it.....but my gut has 'Garin Cecchini' written all over him. Garin was a top 50 in all of baseball AND 3B prospect (not easy to do since there is a TON of competition in that position). He had an above average hit tool and average fielding tool. We also didn't really need him.....we needed pitching. Many called him untouchable but all he was was a line drive hitter with no pop. The writing was on the wall that he would fade......they clung onto him.....now he's about done. I just have a feeling Swi will go the same way......... Keep Swi at catcher.....let his stock rise and TRADE HIM in a package for SP help when the time comes!
  14. Xander is twice the hitter Iggy will ever be and just as good a fielder as Iggy.....just doesn't try to make routine plays look like a highlight reel play like Iggy does. Trading him was not the wrong play.
  15. HAHA!!!!! You beat me to it!!!!! What a moron statement he made!
  16. But not what he did in September of '15........
  17. Paps has come in plenty of times with runners on so I doubt that would be any sort of issue. His numbers were very solid last year (he was an allstar) so it's not like he's far removed from being able to 'deal'. Sure, he has not been great so far this season but his stay in Washington has not exactly been without controversy. A change of scenery and back to his 'roots' could very well add to the fire a bit. With that said though, Spud is right......most of this is moot since there is no way we pick up that contract for a 7th inning guy.
  18. Agree. He's been so solid that I think we have our full time 1B for the next few years. We have all been thinking that he would be the DH after this year......but I'd rather keep him at 1st! I'd rather do a revolving door DH for the the next few years and keep Hanley at 1B.....it's not as easy to find solid defensive 1basemans with a great bat! HAPPY 100 POSTS TO ME!!!!!!!
  19. Price is known as one of the hardest working pitchers in all of baseball.....he'll be fine.
  20. ...........if Paps came back to the Sox I would not be upset. The guy can deal and would be a great 7th inning guy. You can never have too many solid arms in the BP!
  21. You may remember that on the BDC I was the biggest guy AGAINST Hanley going to 1B. I thought it was stupid to put the worst defensive player on the team at a position that handles the ball more than anybody other than Catcher.......... This is why I don't run a baseball team.........
  22. Agree. Young has a solid track record......giving up after less than 40AB's is not a great course of action.
  23. Well.......so far our pitching has been a roller coaster and there are only 5 teams with fewer HR's than the Sox......yet we have one of the better records in the league. I look at the season in 3 parts: 1) April-mid August, 2) August- Sept, 3) Playoffs. It always seems that hitting carries the teams in the first part, Hitting and good BP work in the second part when the 'pressure mounts' and pitching in the playoffs when you really need to win and the pressure is huge. Probably doesn't make sense......but it does to me.....
  24. Porcello from the mound.......Papi at the plate.
  25. HAHA!!!! That actually made me almost spit my gum out!! We are spending time talking sports in front of some little computer device......pretty sure we're all f***ed in the head!!! HA!! I actually LOVED watching Marino play......the guy was amazing. I'm a huge Pats fanboy......but I respect the greats from other teams a ton........even Peyton (eek......I think I need a shower after saying that) Mantle was just stupid good. When Mantle came up to bat, no matter what team you rooted for, you stopped what you were doing and you watched. I seriously think he was the best there ever was........
