  2. I saw some cool pics on Twitter of the all-stars watching Big John throw a sim game today. Pedro, Lester, Buchh, Yaz, Evans and Nieves all looking on. Did you catch any of that a700hitter? That's one of those cool moments that only happen in baseball spring training.
  3. I just saw the Vazquez play on the MLBtv replay of the game today. They talk about this kid's "pop rate", wow. Granted the pitch was high but he was out of his crouch and the ball was out of his hand it seemed before the ball was even in the glove.

  5. I expect to see some Vazquez with our two catchers closing in on 40. De La Rosa could impact the pen. I'd expect Webster, Renaudo, and Barnes to come up and make some impact. Other than that I'm with a700hitter, we don't want to see too many kids in the bigs this season, our WS roster is still mostly intact. @a700hitter I'm sure leaving Bradley Jr. off your list was an honest mistake. What do you think of the young CF? Personally, I love his cornrows. Edit: Vazquez just went yard over the Fenway South monster
  6. Good point reYoukilis, veteran respect and clubhouse hierarchy are probably greater influences than one might think when just throwing together a dream line up. We can look at what happened without it under Valentine. I read an article that made a point similar to that earlier today; it talked about Farrell and Tito in contrast to Valentine, whom the players didn't like or respect, particularly in the close quarters of the sox clubhouse. But for the sake of conversation, and not giving up on my hopes and dreams (lol!), I wonder if that is less of a concern among some of these guys. Shane and Nava seem the type, if there are any in the majors, that would put their ego aside if John thought it best. And imagine the turnover rate for a lineup with Victorino and Nava in the 8 and 9! I agree your lineup is far more likely, but Spring is a time for lofty ideals, just throwing it out there! Cheers!
  7. If the kids light it up in ST I wouldn't be too surprised if Farrell ran this lineup out on Opening Day. If this lineup can work I think its the best case scenario and it would make sense Farrell wants to give it a shot to be successful. If Bradley bats .400 again and Xander is smoking bombs why not? Worst case they go cold and sink back to 8 and 9
  8. WS Game 1 Lineup: Jackie, Xander, Pedey, Papi, Naps, AJ, Will, Shane, Nava
  9. why you gotta be a jerk about it??? I'm talking to you seabeachfred!!!
  10. I've got nothing more to say about that! Sorry for bothering you all!
  11. I was talking about rjortiz. You know, the one that was being a jerk.... You guys are sensitive!
  12. Anyone else on board with Gordon Edes hunch X will be batting lead-off to start the season?
  13. Why are you being such a jerk, man? Play it cool! 'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!
  14. In light of the hall inductions this week, nothing beat a Pedro vs Clemens showdown. That was a great way to fall in love with baseball. I was at Fenway for Clemens last start at Fenway when he was first retiring from the Yanks (idk if he ever came as an Astro). I was one of the few booing, until my Dad told me to shut up haha so I started clapping with everyone else. There's no place like Fenway Park.
  15. I totally agree with Bellhorn. I won't be giving the Sox a break if they fall on their face this year. I will, however, have more patience for the young guys just because that's what it takes if you're ever going to see them succeed. I wouldn't mind seeing Drew back, but it would bug me if X had to flop over to third just because Will is slumping. As long as Drew is willing to be a platoon guy and sub at third and second as well its a big boost for this ballclub and plenty of AB's to go around.... That being said, I still don't see it happening. He wants money, years and a starting gig and it doesn't seem the Sox are willing to budge on any of the three counts. They'll be happy with whatever comp pick they get.
  16. AL East: Sox, Yanks, Rays, O's, Jays AL Central: Tigers, Guardians, Royals, Twins, White Sox AL West: Texas, LA Angels, A's, Seattle, Astros WC: Yanks, Rays Div.: Sox v Yanks & Tigers v Texas Champ: Sox v Tigers NL East: Nats, ATL, Marlins, Philly, NY NL Central: Reds, Pitt, Cards, MIL, Cubs NL West: Dodgers, Giants, Rockies, Dbacks, Padres WC: ATL v Pitt Div: Nats v Pitt, Reds v Dodgers Champ: Reds v Pitt World Series: Sox v Reds, Sox in 5, MVP Clay, Papi breaks WS HR record, JBJr breaks WS OBP record, Xander wins ROY, Clay wins CY, Naps beard earns him a fine for covering red sox logo on jersey, no injuries and nothing bad happens at all.
  17. Rather we keep WMB but if Ben thinks another big lefty in the pipeline is the better option then who am I to question that? We would certainly be alright with Drew and X on the left side and it would likely speak more to Cecchini than the Brooks.
  18. lol that's what I'm saying! And I wouldn't call either of them 30 HR guys at this point.
  19. I would love kemp if we got him for what dupree seems to expect, which is far as I can tell his dempster, a dumpster, and maybe gomes or some long shot prospect. Fact is theyre gonna want one of our big league ready kids (JBJr, or WMB) or else a high level prospect (Cecchini, or Owens or another top starter type). I don't think its worth swapping out one of the guys in our lineup for him or losing young MLB quality pitching depth. JBJr and WMB have question marks but so doesn't Kemp. If we could get him for little to no cost and just plug him into left field and let Nava be the 4th OF I think some team would have already pulled the trigger....
  20. I like the way he thinks too!! 30 dingers from our 3,4,5,6 and 7 guys! Who is in your lineup and what are you trading for Kemp???
  21. I'd put the sox signing Choo at -50% chance
  22. I don't expect it. I think he's honest when saying he's comfortable with the roster as is (I think most sox fans agree, we have a good young roster that deserves its shot). But I also don't think Heyman or anyone else is going to get the jump on him. Basically, I don't trust when they say the Sox are looking at Kemp and I'm equally skeptical when they say we're out. Mr. Cherrington will decide that. And to RedSoxNC84's point, I think he's definitely shown he would rather a well rounded 25 man roster than while making quiet moves than big splashy spending or trades. But that's not what I was referring to. I'm talking about his tight lipped demeanor which suits him and suits Boston sports. Similar to Belichick, Ainge, and now Stevens as well as Farrell.
  23. I can't tell if seabeachfred is in favor of starting the rookies & Middlebrooks.... I'm sure he'll be pleased to know Jon Heyman reports the sox are out on Kemp. I take that with a grain of salt, personally, I think Ben Cherington seems more the silent killer type.
  24. Don't expect any more additions to this club but a couple of backups an OF and IF that's it.
  25. I thought I had heard we were looking into furcal but I think he signed with Miami yesterday... Too bad that would have been an okay option.
