  1. Yep the JBJ slide started the whole thing. As the throw went to 3rd my first thought was he may be able to beat the throw. I mean he is the only player on the team with that kind of speed. I was really critical of him all year but man it's good to see the good JBJ again.
  2. That really was a statement game. I mean they embarrassed the Yanks. Stealing bases at will, once with the pitcher holding the ball. Scoring on a run down, scoring on a ground ball to the first baseman with nobody covering, then banging out 19 hits, 10 for extra bases. Hell CC was throwing such crap that was fouled off, he was lucky to only give up 2 in 3. Good times last night for sure.
  3. Sucks we open the Yankees series with Johnson and not Chris Sale. But it's a smart move and it will help keep his innings down so I understand the precaution.
  4. I just can't feel confident going into the post season with these set up men, I'd hate to see a historic season go down in flames because management thought they could rely on Joe Kelly and Matt Barnes being effective for 3 straight weeks.
  5. Still waiting for a set up man to be acquired but they filled a need with 2 guys that had little chance of ever having an impact in a Red Sox uniform so I'm good.
  6. Thanks, that's good news. Hope it continues.
  7. Can someone give me Sale's season pitch count vs last year? Asking for obvious reasons.
  8. Back to last night's game who was the Tiger color guy? He sounded like a monotone Bill Murray in Caddyshack.
  9. Yeah the base running has been an issue, especially in the beginning of the year. Is it just me or do we lose most of the replay challenges? Not saying we got screwed, although that has happened, just seems we don't end up with the call often.
  10. For the 2nd year in a row a deep starting rotation has been hurt badly by injury. Never did I imagine they would have to be considering trading prospects from a depleted farm system for a starter. I sure hope they don't do that, they already need to spend prospects on a set up man.
  11. Nice pull on the Mickey Stanley reference, I was going to use it as well. I'm in the camp that you don't change the best defensive OF in the game. 2nd base is a hole but it's not a desperate situation.
  12. Yeah I've always felt that was the greatest season a pitcher has had in my lifetime.
  13. Is it just me or do baseball players appear fragile as glass? That collision is called 2nd and 8 in the NFL and both players go back to the huddle, in baseball they both leave the game.
  14. That sounds pretty fair to me.
  15. Are you saying you are fine going into October with Barnes and Kelly in their current roles? You think they can get through 3 rounds (plus a possible wild card game) and win a ring with that situation? Not me, that will blow up on them at some point and could derail a real chance at a title run.
  16. So anyway the one hole on this team is a very real hole. The set up men leading to Kimbrell remain giant question marks, frankly they just aren't good enough for a deep October run and I don't see that changing.
  17. No doubt he is the one guy they can't let get away. He just is having fun out there and it's fun to see. Of course it's always fun when you are the best player in the game, which he is right now.
  18. What a joy it is to have a player like Mookie on our team. The night before he looked bad in his first 2 at bats, a weak pop up and a bad strike out. I remember when he stepped in for his 3rd at bat I thought "I'd bet $100 that he gets a hit this time" right before he ripped a double down the line. Then of course he got a hit his 4th trip just to remove all doubt.
  19. So after the Mookie blast to complete one of the greatest at bats I've ever seen my wife came down to check after hearing my scream. She thought I had hurt myself somehow.
  20. I love Brock Holt, just a gamer who always seemed under rated. Not saying he is a starter on a championship team but you need glue guys like this. How fun has this first half been? I can't ever remember watching a team where I just expect them to break open a close game and win going away like this team continues to do night after night.
  21. Having grown up at a time when the NL was dominant and we all rooted for the AL (I was crushed when Amos Otis' throw didn't get to Fosse before Pete Rose did) I still watch because I remember when it was a big deal. It's no longer a big deal but it's still fun to watch the best. Besides I have a secret, I really enjoy watching Judge throw a baseball with an effortless move that looks like a lob into 2nd but is traveling 100 MPH.
  22. Both of these are speculation, we don't know if the players dealt for Kimbrell woiuld have been enough to get Sale. I was one of the few in favor of this trade at the time, I'm a firm believer that you need an established closer to win in October and history has shown that with a few exceptions. As for Thornburg he is needed for sure. I'm not sure what his role will be but every title team we've had seemed to always have guys to come in with 2 on and 1 out in the 5th or 6th and shut it all down. Bullpen depth is critical in the post season.
  23. So happy for JBJ, to get above .200 so quickly is remarkable. So are we back to being worried when Joe Kelly enters the game? Not me, not yet.
  24. Sorry if this has been discussed but what exactly are the outs in this contract? During the O's telecast Jim Palmar said it was a long term deal but I am aware there are outs. Can we keep him long term? I mean if this season continues he will want an even bigger deal.
