We put some great swings on the ball. I think we were just the less lucky team tonight. This is the reason why you don't want to get stuck in the wild card game. Anything can happen in 1 game.
Final AL East:
Red Sox
Rays.............. 2 GB
Yankees......... 5 GB
Orioles........... 7 GB
Blue Jays....... 22.5 GB
David Price throws a no hitter in the AL wild card game. Sox beat the A's in the ALDS and Gomes gets huge clutch hits against his former team. Sox beat the Rays in the ALCS with a thrilling comeback in the bottom of the 9th of Game 7. Sox go on to play the Braves in the WS and get extremely unlucky. Controversial stuff happens and the Sox lose the World Series in 6 games. This adds to their history of tough losses.
Aftermath:
Napoli now has two tough WS losses in three years. Ellsbury wants to leave the frustration but realizes how much he's bonded with the gang and ends up back in Boston for 2014. Red Sox go on to win the 2014 World Series against all expectations.
The more threads we have, the more stuff there is to talk about. If anything, there aren't enough threads around here. I have no problem with tons of threads.
Hey Dodgers, thanks for beating the Rays with that magical comeback and all, but it's time to face our wrath (and John Farrel's wrath).
Time to get reunited with Agon, Cal Craford, and Punto. I think I'm the only one with a red sox Punto shirt.
Rays' winning percentage: .581
Red Sox new win percentage: .578
At least Tampa pushed the Orioles down for us. Remember that we've managed to stay barely in first for a very long time even though we were picked to finish last in the division. I'm thankful for where we are, but it was still hard to watch that last pitch be called a ball. Walk off walk...
Maybe I won't tell you if you're going to be rude.
Also, I don't get if the poll is asking if we should "re-sign" Ellsbury or "resign" (put him off the team) him. Results could be inaccurate if people don't know what they're voting for.
I'm finally over not winning the Cup. Our magical comeback vs. the Leafs still allowed us to become champions of the East, even if it didn't take us all the way. Can't wait for next season; I've never really watched regular season hockey before.
Does anybody know how many people actually know about the murder? They seem to be doing a good at not releasing the news on NESN so Remy doesn't get put in an extremely awkward situation. He's probably going to get more stressed if too many people know about it. Then again, the tragedy has to be respected, so you can't really smother the story.
Eckersley said he'd ask Tony LaRusa why he often had his pitcher bat 8th instead of 9th. We should find out the answer sometime soon.
I love watching the pitcher bat. NL rocks!
We'll see how much Peavy depends on that one pitch that drops off down and away.
Did anyone else notice how during his entire cold stretch, Napoli seemed to have slow bat speed? He was always right on the ball, but swung too slow. I even noticed him trying a lighter bat for one plate appearance.
Ellsbury is one of my favorite players and is an established part of this team. Having a guy who steals half the time adds strategy to the team and makes it more fun to watch. I don't think you can just get rid of a key team member for a slight financial advantage. After his 5 SB game, I really got the feeling that he is here to stay.
