Nah. He’d make an excellent late inning defensive replacement.
-
I don’t think they’re selling out every game anymore. That’s a start. The good news is that the Patriots start their season tomorrow. First preseason game. They made a lot of improvements and have the weakest schedule in the league. I think they’ll be much better than past years.
-
I’d do it. I couldn’t do any worse than Breslow.
-
Basically, to sum it up, the FLOPS did nothing significant again this year, being neither buyers nor sellers, while the competition significantly improved. Those are the facts and it just confirms what I thought the franchise has degraded into. I hope the fans boycott the part in protest. It was time to s*** or get off the pot and all they did was keep sitting.

2026 or 2027, yes. They clearly played it dumb strategically. Now tanking won't even help much because the guys they draft won't be ready for years. I said a while ago I thought they needed to tear it all down starting at the top with the owner if they want to compete for a ring again. I haven't changed my mind.
-
As well he shouldn't. But he should have sold off some players, like Chapman. who is what-37 now? Wonder what he would have brought here in return.
-
I had this discussion earlier. Most people with his injury take 6-12 months to fully recover. You can't plan for the worst possible case when the likelihood is that he will make a full recovery and be back on opening day or shortly thereafter.
-
Casas will be their primary 1B in 2026.
-
Those two would have helped. Also a backup catcher because Wong stinks and a solid RP. I would not have been willing to pay the price for filling all those holes. But not selling off valuable assets like Chapman? Thats just poor management.
-
Get ready for the excuses.
-
Thanks. I do not think that there were any reasonable moves that could have been made to turn this team into a WS contender, and that is the goal. There are simply too many holes. But this playing it midway between being a seller and a buyer gets you NOWHERE. They should have been sellers for players of value in exchange for good prospects or to fill future needs. Breslow needs to be GONE and he can take Cora with him.
-
Whatever
-
I jokingly said 5-6 years a while ago, but I think we can compete for a ring in maybe 2 or 3 years. There is a good young core and decent complimentary players...and an ace...etc. I just wish we didn't play it midway again and were sellers to improve our odds for when we CAN compete.
-
Basically they did nothing of significance at all to improve this year or in future years. Breslow should be fired and take Cora with him.
-
I know I was right, though it wasn't a popular opinion. I take no pleasure in being right though. This ******** is getting old.
-
Why bother. But hey-the old mantra for the FLOPS is still around: "just wait till next year........or the year after that",
-
Yup. Same team that is barely hanging on to a playoff wild card spot while every other team involved improved. Think the FLOPS are a playoff team this year?
-
Thanks. I know it wasn't a popular opinion before the deadline but I wasn't willing to give up anything significant for a futile run this year. The future really is bright I believe. We have promising youngsters and a genuine ace along with good complementary players. There is also money available this offseason if Henry opens up his wallet. There are also promising players in the minor league who are ours now. Glad we didn't trade them away. Now all that is left is for us to TANK which I believe will come naturally now that the players know that management has no faith in them. We will likely finish ahead of the Orioles and MAYBE the Rays, but there will be no joy in Mudville this October. Again.
-
This is a smack in the face for the players. THEY know the team needed more. Its a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on the part of management. Watch them tank now, which is actually the smart thing to do.
-
That is what I have advocated for over the past several weeks. And I don't remember who here said he would surrender his first born male son if the Sox were done after getting Matz (sorry: May doesn't even register) but I am waiting.......he'll get his own bedroom
-
Well its 3:01 now and the deadline is up. Henry has clearly stated that his expectations for this team are the same as mine: not real contenders, not this year. He got an also-ran SP and a mediocre RP for someone who was never going to make it on the ML team while every other contender improved. It would have been much smarter to have been sellers. This sends a clear message to the players: not ready for prime time. I doubt we will make the playoffs now.
-
Just what we need! We are SAVED: Dustin May: 6-7, ERA 4.85, WHIP 1.35. Richard Fitts is better: 3.79, 1.30 How can we lose now? Five minutes left and we got a mediocre RP for a guy we were going to lose anyway and Dustin May, maybe. I can hardly wait to hear the excuses.
-
Sure they did. Like they went after Lester and Mookie "very hard".
-
This franchise is a disgusting joke. Henry has to sell the team. Otherwise we will all live this over and over again, year after year.
-
Should have done that yesterday.
