  1. I didn’t hear that. If it’s true then management should have handled it differently. They didn’t have to ask Devers’ permission to sign Bregman nor did they have to mention he might be the 3B to start the season but communication is important. Regardless, Devers needs to suck it up, and I think he will.
  2. Benching him is a last resort, but it IS an option if he can't do what is best for the team. Its not his job to make management decisions. He needs to suck it up and try 1B. Where he plays in the field (or DH) is beyond his pay grade.
  3. Yeah, putting him on the bench would certainly teach him a valuable lesson. His job is to play baseball wherever the manager tells him to play to the best of his ability. Pouting is not an option. He gets WAY too much money for that BS.
  4. How do you know that management did NOT speak with Devers before signing Bregman? Regardless, Devers' job is to play baseball, not make management decisions. He gets paid a BUNDLE to do it and IMO needs to shut the hell up and play where the manager thinks is best for the team. If he can't handle that there's plenty of room on the pine for him.
  5. It’s a TEAM sport. You don’t win putting one player on the field. Each player must do what’s best for the TEAM. If they can’t do that they shouldn’t play. They can sell used cars instead.
  6. Rafaela doesn’t have a bat. Unless he can stop chasing so many bad pitches he should be a defensive replacement like Bradley should have been. And now it seems that Devers is indeed having a tantrum about moving off 3B for the good of the team. He claimed that “third base is where I play”. Nice attitude Raffy. It’s not all about HIM. It’s a team sport. He should be penciled in wherever Cora wants him to play and if he continues to pout I’d sit him on the pine.
  7. The only thing that might keep Bregman off 3B is a tantrum by Devers. Hopefully it won't come to that. We are a better team with Bregman at 3B and Devers at 1B/DH. I think thats pretty much indisputable.
  8. I don't get this business of pouting (and I am not saying that Devers is pouting yet) when a player is told that the team needs him to play a different position than he thinks he should be playing. A player should be willing to play wherever the team most needs him. Its not about HIM: its about the team.
  9. If we keep Casas then either he or Devers has to be our DH, the other one playing 1B, assuming Bregman is at 3rd as he should be. Then Yoshida is the odd man out. I don’t want him in the OF. Problem is, no one is going to want Masa’s contract.
  10. I think Casas is on the trading block. If Devers moves to 1B. Another LHH there is unnecessary.
  11. IF Bregman plays the way he played before 24 it should be a good lineup. That leaves just the bullpen needing an infusion of talent. Nice to see management finally spending some money.
  12. Bregman is a huge upgrade defensively at 3B. Devers belongs at 1B/DH. Too bad if he doesn't like it.
  13. There’s a big difference between what they need to do to make the team relevant and what they are doing. You stated what they are doing. Much more is needed. As for the budget it’s middle of the pack last I checked. Years ago, before Henry turned into a cheapskate, it was much better. We will again be watching other teams play October baseball, and that’s getting very very old.
  14. This is NOT a small market team. They should be looking to ADD salary, not trying to get "salary relief". Pete Alonso is no longer available. He just resigned with the Mets. And we still have no legitimate threat from the right side. I can hardly wait for the excuses from ownership to start....
  15. Exactly. Last I checked the payroll was middle third. That’s not good enough for a bad team like this. I’ll admit it seems a bit better than last year in terms of SPing but where’s the RH bats? The pen looks mediocre again too. Henry has turned into a cheap bastard who obviously doesn’t care about winning-and why should he? The fans keep showing up, keep buying Red Sox products…..everyone needs to stay home and not support the team financially. Starve the SOB.
  16. Who has Henry actually spent significant money on to fill our needs this offseason? Lets not count rehab projects such as pitchers recovering from TJS as they are damaged goods. Full throttle!
  17. The cheapest one
  18. It’s all part of the plan to go “full throttle”. What a disgusting franchise this team has turned into. Another last place finish here we come!
  19. Yeah....they have "shown interest" in a lot of players. And they still haven't spent any money on high quality players that would possibly bring the franchise back to relevance. Martin just signed with the Rangers. There are a few good players still unsigned and we still have needs. Henry is STILL trying to do it on the cheap. He really needs to sell the team. We deserve better.
  20. Yes, but they were “interested” in many of them. That counts, right? Henry has turned in a real penny pincher who doesn’t seem to care about the quality of the product he puts on the field. When you look at some of the other big market teams and what they have done recently Henry’s prowess at not spending is obvious. We deserve better……
  21. How much is Burnes getting? How about Fried….or Hernandez?
  22. North of SF. But I visit my family in MA regularly and sometimes attend games. No more Does it matter to you whether or not the team contends for a playoff spot with regularity?
  23. Ummm….there are other places where you could have done the family bonding thing you know. When folks support a crap teams owners by showing up at the park there’s no incentive for them to make the team better by spending money. It’s only when fans stay home or show up to boo the product on the field that the owners might be inclined to spend to improve the team. I’ll be staying home. You should too.
  24. Yup the lemmings still come to the park, though I believe attendance has been dropping a bit. Not enough, but a trickle. Let’s hope the fans get the message and STAY HOME!
  25. You know, I could almost deal with the mediocrity IF the ownership demonstrated some evidence that they were trying to compete as a large market team. When was the last time they signed a high priced talented FA?
