I really don't give a rats ass if Devers was "unhappy". Too bad! Things change and people need to be flexible. I know there would have been a learning curve for Devers at 1B and I would not have expected that he would immediately be good there defensively. But others have made the switch. He is a stubborn insubordinate me first player and that is not the culture management wanted here. I don't blame them one bit. We likely won't be contending for a ring or even playing ball in Oct this year, but Devers is replaceable.

Casas has a career OPS of .800. He will be fine when he gets back. If Toro and Gonzalez can maintain what they are doing, which I highly doubt, we are in good shape if Henry uses the money to backfill for Devers.

They should have asked him, if they didn't. He would have refused our pouted. Thats his personality. Remember what he said when they got Bregman when asked about where he was going to play? "I'm playing 3B", not "I'll do whatever is best for the team". Thats BS.

You don't have to do what you are told in a business. You can find another job. Your comparison to Nuremberg is rejected as meaningless. This isn't a war where people are asked to torture or kill people.

You're wrong. Breslow did his job. Devers was a spoiled SOB and refused to switch positions when asked. That is HIS job-to do what he was told. I won't miss his insubordination.

They have rights. If they don't like the rules they can find work elsewhere. That is the choice I was given when I was TOLD I was transferring to another more distant facility. They DO NOT have the right as players to tell management where they will or will not play.

Casas got off to a slow start but I believe he would have come around. Toro and Gonzales have been great-but I doubt they can sustain this pace, not that I wouldn't love that. No, you cannot have a player making decisions about where he will or will not play, no matter who he is. That is the tail wagging the dog. This would have leaked out anyway, regardless of whether or not Breslow went public-because it was the obvious move after Casas got hurt. Its a TEAM sport. There's no "I" in TEAM.

The message to the players is this: it’s a team sport and your job is to do what’s best for the TEAM as determined by management. “Me first” isn’t going to be tolerated.

Absolutely! Breslow should have TOLD Cora that the discussion must happen no matter how uncomfortable it might be. If he refused he should be fired. If Devers then refused to play where he was told to play he sits or gets traded. Chain of command…..

He’s was traded because of his crap “me first” attitude. We don’t need to rebuild a team with players like that.

Ummm….NO. Breslows job is to be the GM. He doesn’t need the permission of the players to make roster moves. The players job is to do what they’re told to do. If that means playing 1B then that’s what they have to do. They don’t have to like it.

There’s still too many OFs they do what Moon suggests and make Duran a DH. He’s got more value as an OF. My guess is that Breslow isn’t nearly done.

As long as Henry replaces him with someone comparable but with a better attitude it’s good. I admit I absolutely won’t miss his “me first” attitude.

Duran is a very good OF. Turning him into a DH is a mistake

“PerRed Sox sources: the team's feeling was that a $313.5M contract comes with responsibilities to do what is right for the team and that Devers did not live up to those responsibilities. They had enough and they traded him.” Hard to disagree with this

I don’t see how the OF logjam gets fixed since none of our OF is an IF unless one of them becomes a DH. We are a bit LH heavy. If Henry just keeps the money as I suspect he will people should boycott the team.
