  1. Injuries to starting pitching on the Yankees could certainly play a role
  2. Jays, Rays, and O's all lost today. White Sox split 4 with Yankees.
  3. Big win today to salvage a frustrating series in Seattle! Offense needs to step it up in Oakland.
  4. Not as predictable as you may think. As bad as punto has been this year as a whole, he scalded that ball and it went right at the 3b. As little chances to score as the red sox have had in these games, when they are making solid contact it's right at a Mariner or dies in the outfield of home run hell.
  5. The orioles have had a great run of good fortune in extra inning and 1 run games through this point in the season. Their recent stretch seems to be more of a sign of their true colors.
  6. Score some runs already! This is getting to be beyond ridiculous.
  7. Doubront showing the growing pains of a rookie starter again. His innings limit this season is going to quickly become a non issue if he continues having ineffective outings like this.
  8. This team has simply been unable to sustain any sort of long term winning streak. I thought they were onto something when they won 6 out of 9 at home. Then they come out west and it's back to their recent history of west coast swings. At some point, this team has to be able to win the majority of these types of games and get closer to their expected win/loss record.
  9. Go Sox! Glad to see they are back to playing well lately. Hope Beckett bounces back tonight!
  10. One way or another, this team will have its work cut out for it in the 2nd half. The flip side of having a tough schedule against divisional opponents is it gives this team complete control over its own destiny instead of relying on other teams to pull out wins. As long as they don't continue to fall further behind, they will at least give themselves a fighting chance. Who knows? Maybe by then their health, play on the field, and luck will have them hitting on all cylinders.
  11. Go Sox! A win tonight will help us keep pace!
  12. Interleague play isn't going to last forever - not to mention the players who will return from the disabled list. This experiment of gonzo in right and youk at 1st is helping neither and hurting both while hurting the team as a whole more than the benefit it creates by having those 2 and Middlebrooks in the same lineup. If the sox want to give gonzo any hope of figuring things out, permanently moving him back to first is the obvious move when Interleague play ends. At that point, Middlebrooks needs to play full time- whether here or at Pawtucket. Question becomes how much longer you can keep throwing Youk out there
  13. The problem is - will they? It's frightening because it seems this ownership group has taken the "baseball is a business" philosophy to the end of the earth with their consistent concern for growing their brand and sustaining revenue. I'm talking the endless 100 years of Fenway, bricks, coffee table books, etc. They have lost sight of the fact that all of those things are just ancillary satisficers that are reliant solely on a franchise that wins both on and off the field.
  14. At this point blame can be placed on everyone from enept upper management on down to underperforming players. This has become an organizational issue that has managed to find its way to the playing field in more ways than one. It's shameful as a fan because this is an organization that used to do things the right way. This team had its fair share of mercenary free agents when they were winning consistently but always had a strong foundation of young, talented, and hungry players eager to prove themselves. When the inevitable gap of talent ran short for a few seasons, the free agents who were brought in to help fill the gap and set an example have failed miserably at both. It's one thing to underperform but when you draw the amount of negative attention that this group has created in the past year plus, you have to question everyone involved. Unfortunately, management and players continue to turn the other way and blame everything under the sun but themselves for this atrocious display they give us the majority of nights.
  15. Hi all, I have lurked on this forum for several years and have finally gotten around to joining. This forum has been great for me over the years to vent/wind down after tough games (and celebrate after hard fought victories- as few and far between as they've been in recent memory). Looking forward to discussing the Sox with everyone on the forum!
