  1. Great post! The only thing I would change is removing Lester and possibly Iglesias from that list. You mentioned hanging onto Lester if he can turn it around and I'm certain he will. It may not be this season but he will not be this bad for his whole career. He's fairly affordable going forward and is what he is when right- a solid #2. As for Iglesias, I like that he seems to be improving his offensive approach to the game as he's gotten more at bats under his belt. He reminds a lot of a young Elvis Andrus- with more glove but less bat. His defense is off the charts and has an impact on the game that is rare. Like you mentioned, the organization does have a bit of a niche in acquiring undervalued offense. If you're dead set on getting the pitching back to a respectable level, you have to place a premium on defense- especially up the middle. Unless you're getting better value, they need to stick with Iglesias since they've already invested a lot in him.
  2. Nothing unexpected for a series here in Texas. Atleast these Johnny come lately Rangers fans have had a lot of fun watching this team the last few seasons. With some crucial pieces heading to free agency, this year may be the shot for the Rangers to win a title.
  3. Becoming a trend the last few seasons. Outside of last summer (before the hurricane seemed to sweep everything good about this organization away), there hasn't been a entertaining aspect to this team for us fans to grasp onto. This is an agonizing group to watch - even when they win. Outside of occasionally blowing teams out, this team rarely wins a game in relative ease.
  4. Alright let's get some runs!
  5. Middlebrooks has been taking much better swings of late.
  6. They're on a roll now but they will cool down eventually. As good as their pitching is, I don't see their offense being able to sustain 6+ runs per game like their recent pace has been.
  7. Nice win, but the other 4 spots have been the reason they are in this current predicament. Buchholz has gotten the run support all year until tonight and he made do. Other pitchers on this staff should take note.
  8. Terrible that Buch won't get the win tonight. He pitched outstanding. This offense is awful against pitchers they haven't faced more times than not.
  9. Welcome!
  10. Lots of issues this organization needs to work out before the start of next season. I could care less where they end up at the end of this year. But change needs to be made here- particularly with the pitching staff. As far as tonight's game, most likely it will be another re run of previous games against the Rangers and Mike Napoli will beat us again single handedly. Atleast this team can actually beat the Yankees. It seems they have no answer for this Rangers squad. Maybe tonight they prove me wrong.
  11. Not to mention Oswalt's health issues and inconsistency. Holland is very similar to Beckett in terms of being inconsistent each time out. He usually has 1 or 2 awful innings (at a smaller scale than Beckett has had) and is lights out over the rest of his outing. Darvish looks a lot like Dice K in his first season where he is benefiting from the league not being familiar with him but struggling with control in the majority of his outings. Feliz will be returning to the bullpen when he is back in a few weeks. With Hamilton and Napoli due to go to Free Agency after the season and the inevitable decline that will come with the aging of part of the team's core (Young, Beltre, even Kinsler is into his 30s), it may be that this year could be the Rangers best shot at winning a World Series. Yes, they have a promising farm system. But who knows if all of their prospects will be able to replicate what the current group has done to this point in future years? There is a potential opportunity here to take advantage of their situation and the market conditions as well as begin part of the cultural change needed in this clubhouse. I would not be surprised if Beckett were to turn it around in a new setting. But it has become clear that he is not capable of consistently doing that here as evident from the majority of his time in Boston.
  12. The similarities to this year's Red Sox team and former Rangers teams is startling. All offense, zero pitching. And on the flip side, the similarities between the recent Rangers teams and past Red Sox teams. Strong offense to compliment a strong and deep pitching staff.
  13. It is almost unanimous now that change is needed. A month ago it was more split. But this recent run has brought almost every fan into the rebuild/sell mentality if they weren't there already. Heck, it is so obvious to some, that they are actually rooting for the team to lose this year so change will be more warranted by this dysfunctional organization.
  14. The next letter he needs to write is his resignation letter.
  15. Apology letter tomorrow for better 2nd half from the entire organization tomorrow signed by LL? October baseball in the Arizona Fall League?
  16. Why do the sox even pitch to Napoli anymore?
  17. They did give up quite a bit in prospect Jacob Turner in that deal. That's essentially the Red Sox dealing Matt Barnes and a minor league catcher. Still hasn't proven anything at the Major League level, but there's quite a lot to like.
  18. This organization is probably going to be best off in the long run waiting until the offseason to address the problems with this team and just let this season ride itself out. The market is extremely reactionary right now with the ransoms being asked for rental players. Just imagine the asking price for players that will actually help this team. Will it even be worth it? The focus should be long term sustainable winning teams and not just an attempt at a 1 year fix that may not even be possible. Culture change, conditioning programs that actually keep players on the field, and PITCHING. Above all, baseball should be the number 1 focus. At least in the public's eyes, there is a significant feeling that the focus has been elsewhere at times in the past few years.
  19. Same game each time we play the Rangers. Hard to believe that this team was bankrupt just 2 years ago. Now averaging the 2nd most fans per home game and running the team the way the Red Sox used to.
